This sounds pretty bad. Somebody please clarify how bad this is.

Your interceptor would get raped. No even joking.

    Straight up in-the-air rape.

Man, our interceptors just don't have the punching power to take down one of those fuckers.

Speaking of punching power, can I recommend Aedan get a new chassis? It's bad enough knowing where he is, having him wafting around like a ghost in the machine is hella creepy.

You're just upset that whenever you're in the bathroom, he gets onto the PA speakers in there and starts giggling in a very quiet high pitched voice. Sometimes, in the same voice, he'll also say things like "I SEE you...".

I don't really get why you're so bugged out by that.

    X-Com General Alert Bulletin

    From: X-Com Director of Operations
    To: All staff

I know the recent activity of UFO-35 has put many of you on edge; I want to remind you all that we knew that this was always a possibility, and it means we're doing this right.

The general order of high alert for Ribaldry Base is rescinded, but I want everyone, at all bases, to stand ready at an elevated level of alert. Just because this danger has passed, it doesn't mean that we're clear and out of the woods yet. There will be more of these in the days and months ahead, perhaps sooner than we would like.

We have no reason to believe that the threat of base assault in the near future is over.

Following this recent hostile activity, I will be reviewing soldier numbers at all bases. We are currently understaffed in at least two bases; Team Ultima will be looking to transfer 4 more soldiers from Team Ratio; Team Ratio will need replacements for the transffered soldiers. The Aedan core is temporarily offline for improved data metrics routines; replacement soldier will be ordered up from basic shortly.

Until then - stay frosty, and keep your head in the game.

Office of the X-Com Director of Operations

    Alert - Incoming Hyperwave Transmission

    UFO%20Defense%202009-10-05%2021-32-38-99.jpg

    X-Com Command-level Secure Briefing

Gentlemen, thank you for your time.

As you are no doubt aware, X-Com Hyperwave Assets intercepted a coded transmission 13 minutes ago. The profile is a low-threat craft in an area with few resources of planetary significance. I've called this emergency briefing to take a straw poll on our options to handle the threat.

According to the decrypt, the craft is crewed by Floaters; fairly low on the threat index. The mission profile is Terror, but the craft type is a Large Scout, suggesting that this mission is interested in locating and identifying potential targets for a follow-up attack on a civilian populace - apparently in central Asia, an area with few X-Com funding nations or population centers.

Now, while this craft is well within the capabilities of X-Com Interceptors to interdict and engage - with the likely result of the craft being forced down - past experience has shown that to do so would likely result in the destruction of the central power core and the valuable Elerium element inside. To date, we have only managed to capture this material during ground assaults on landed craft; a prospect that has its own inherent dangers.

    So, we have two options:

    1) Dispatch an Interceptor (as standard) to engage and shoot down the invading craft, allowing us to recover the crash site, probably without any Elerium.

    2) Allow the UFO to pass unopposed, in the hope it lands (of which there is no guarantee) to put X-Com resources in the field against a full strength Alpha force before it has a chance to fulfil too many of the alien mission objectives.

While the question is directed primarily at command staff, Everybody here at X-Com has a stake in this, so I invite comment from Science, Interceptor and Ground Teams who might have a part to play.

Take the time you need, but the clock is ticking on this one. Return your opinions to me as soon as you have them, thank you.

    Option 3.

Dispatch an Interceptor for the sole purpose of tailing it, giving an increased probability of having a visual on the ship if it lands. If it doesn't land, it's the same as if option 2 doesn't work. If it does, you've got an Interceptor ready to shoot it down if the Skyranger doesn't reach there in time.

Plus, we get our hands on some more elerium, it means more power armor and high damage weaponry.

Fuck it. Even if they do take out a few civvies, it just means that those goddamn cheapskates in asia are all the more likely to want to pony up the bucks to pay us to do our fucking jobs, protecting their tightwad asses.

A backed up pipe in the barracks rattles and moans, sounding like a voice. It seems to be saying "Option 2: Follow it with a transport. They have massive fuel capacity and will be ready to land as soon as it hits ground. Both Contact teams should be fully adequate to take even an undamaged Floater force."

If its a terror ship, when it lands its just going to lead to a terror mission, which doesn't get us any elerium.

    PFC "Woody" Woodroez

It's been five months now since I received word that my application for "X-COM" was accepted. I still don't know the details, but it must be important; I was removed from the Kosovo theater and sent home, only told to check in weekly and to remain prepared to move at a moment's notice.

In the meantime I've gotten a new pistol. After 4500 rounds and 100 percent functionality, she's proven worthy of a name and a holster for carry at all times. She currently grouping at 1.75 inches at 50 yards now that the springs have had time to settle in nicely. Pretty Goddamned good for a .45 Government model. Still, my goal is 1.33" at 50, so I've got some new parts on the way. New skeltonized trigger fitted to .002" tolerances and slicked, a beavertail grip of similar tightness and a flat back, and a new, more crisp grip safety switch and plunger, all of which will be in a handsome stainless finish that should pop nicely to the eye.

I hope this new gig will allow personal sidearms; Constance is gonna have some new jewelry and she just can't wait to show it off to the boys.

God dammit, Woody is freaking me out again. I swear, that guy puts more effort into his relationship with his pistol than he does with his squadmates. I think he's actually named the the fuckin thing! Like, I loves me my sidearm but, that shit be straight up creepy. Plus I can't fucking touch his high score on the training simulator and that has put a bug all the way up my ass let me tell you.

Took a shit in the forest again today, I hope Aedan gets a chassis again soon, it's a pain dragging a shovel and TP all that way. Fricken mess hall food, shit needs to be higher in fibre!
