Also, I kind of wish Keiko had just quit on the spot when asked to serve the tea - would've been bad-ass.
I like the concept of the show, but I always hate it when the plot only continues because everybody is a fucktard.
Also, I'm betting whoever it was that was there to kill Mark was the one to send the message.

A lot of that comes from the fact that their flashforwards have terrible news. People keep secrets about terrible things they've already done all the time. I can imagine that keeping secrets about terrible things you're apparently going to do would be top on the priority list.

I also think they're using the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy Hammer a bit too hard. Watching Feinnes' marriage crumble within the span of half an hour because of something that may or may not happen in the future makes me foam at the mouth.
And yet, I keep watching, because I want it to get better. :?
But I gotta say, I just burned through the entire 9 episodes out right now in one day, and it wasn't by choice. I just found myself starting the next one as soon as I finished the episode.
One thing I really love about this show, is that there isn't some ridiculous shit with the Camera's and images and stuff, like on CSI or Fringe (I still love fringe), where the cameras everywhere are high speed digital images they can use thier floating display to enhance to the point you can take a blurry image and have the guys face with the click of a few buttons. God that shit drives me insane in shows.
I gotta say too, I like that they seem to have the odd thrown in episode of char development not just the huge conspiracy, and those episodes are all real good, i kinda wish they would throw more in, plus, all the cameo's and actors in it? Hell yes. Seeing River Song in something besides who? I'm sure she is in a lot of stuff, but I was pleasantly suprised with her little cameo in there.
*Edit OMG, after writing this I just finished the last episode, I was writing this as I was watching this one, and what do they do, insane crazy ridiculous camera shit to see whats on the ring. Fuck. Fine. I'm letting this ONE slide. Thats it.
Oddly enough, I appreciated that while they could get the ring they deliberately had Joe Feinnes as "If we can do this, why can't we see the guy's face?" and had a response. Granted, it was more technical magicry, but it wasn't as bad as even the most straightforward episode of CSI.

Fucking
HATE
CSI
...Seriously. Like look at that shit. From a security camera? I can't believe there are what, 5 csi's now? And people watch this shit? God damn ridiculous.
As for this piece of crap show, I stopped paying too much attention after they found a similar occurance in Africa and even found imagery of some towers in the area, and in the next episode...nothing. Because guys! The hero's wife is edging ev-ver so slowly towards fucking another man!
But truth be told, I wouldn't hate this show so much if the fucking channel that bought it to the UK (Five) would STOP advertising it so much!
Ad break arrives; show an eye, something to do with FF that has the channel logo, appears for about 2/3 seconds (not sure of the name).
Follow that with a trailer about this week's FF.
Followed by commercials.
Sometimes a repeat of the trailer, sometimes another show.
Then another eye.
Then the next show.
Show ends; Voice-over talks about this weeks up-coming FF.
Eye.
Then the trailer.
Then ads.
Eye.
Another voice-over mentioning FF,
Then next show
Etc
ALL Voice-overs mention it, ALL THE TIME. Non-stop.
I entered a text competition on my phone once. They answered with a 'thanks for entering' message...then told me not to forget about this weeks FF.
Before the show started it was worse.
I'm SO SICK OF IT, i don't even watch the channel until the show i'm interested in is 2 minutes in...
Still, I'm such a sucker for time travel, and that part is keeping my attention, and I keep wanting to know what's going to happen next. In fact, I've been thinking about it. Does anyone mind if I vomit some time travel theory on your floor?
So first there's the original timeline, A to B. In it no one has a flashforward. In the original timeline Mark is working on something else. He and the wife break up for some reason, and she hooks up with Lloyd.
Bryce almost kills himself but decides he just can't at the last second.
But then there's the event, and everyone at point A sees the future, point B.
This might look a little like the one we are watching on TV, ie Bryce sees that he's not dead, Olivia sees Lloyd in her house, etc., but in this flashforward, Mark does not see himself working on the Mosaic project.
This, of course, changes everyone's actions; Mark starts investigating the flashforward, Olivia starts acting weird around Lloyd. A change of actions means a change of future, which means at point A, they are no longer looking at point B; they're looking at a new future, point C. That may be where we are now.
In order to account for the fact that nobody in their flashforward was aware that they were having their flashforward, (and you would really think that they would realize this, considering how much everyone has thought about it since it happened), maybe every time the timeline changes from B to C to D, the FF jumps to a different time.

This, hypothetically, would include timelines where we happen to know about our future. So whatever caused the flashforward just showed a possible future from one of the many (possibly infinite) timelines where we happen to know what might happen in the future.
And now I have to stop because I'm about to go cross-eyed.

I did find that quite strange.

I think this was a pretty last second move. I heard that they were 'breaking to tighten up the writing', but also heard that it wouldn't have any impact on the schedule. Little did I know this was the schedule.
Also February is the biggest ratings month of the year. Its the one where they put everything that has potential to bring in viewers, so they can sell ads at a high rate and point to the Feb. numbers to show off how many people watch the station (why LOST is premiering the 2nd of Feb).
So bringing FlashForward back in MARCH is not a huge vote of confidence.
And add to that the fact that they are giving up a good opportunity to market FlashForward with Lost by moving Lost off of Thursday night. They could run FF re-runs with new Lost episodes leading up to FF starting again.

The Olympics are Feb 12-28.
Lost has a chance against the Olympics. FlashForward does not.
But the ratings were also abysmal so I wouldn't expect anything from the show past this season (which is good, because it doesn't look like the concept will hold past then anyway).
I can't imagine how much money the channel wasted over this bilge. They must be shitting themselves seeing the abysmal ratings in the US. Probably makes them more determined to plug it. Which just makes people more apathetic.
Yea I actually caught the show by accident the other night and was so glad i did. Actually started going somewhere when I was convinced there was no ay thi show could last past 15 episodes or so. See how it plays out from here, but im not gonna lie, i was starting to fall into a slump by the end of the per break there. It has so much potential id like to see it continue. It just seems like they have all these points and amazing breaks, and suddenly sat photos and everything and then the next episode would be about nothing. Such a ball buster, but, hell, i got nothing else on tv right now so its i figure ill stick it out and see where it goes.
As such, I will support it with my entire being until it is ripped from the airwaves.
That is two of the best hours of television I've seen in quite a while. Ricky Jay deserves about three different awards for that performance and that character, and I was glad that everybody else was much more on point and not nearly as haphazard in their characterization. No Joseph Feinnes jumping between competent, idiotic, and psychotic. Dominic Monaghan did amazing work, and even crazy nurse man came across as a full-fledged character rather than a trope.
Major spoiler enclosed if you haven't watched the episode.
However, killing off Ricky Jay, who walked on screen and stole THE ENTIRE SHOW from every other cast member without even trying, is unconscionable and, if they hadn't restored my faith in the rest of the characters (particularly Mark and Simon) I would probably be on the fence about watching the next episode. Luckily that break allowed them to tighten up the storyline they're fashioning and excise some of the unnecessary crap that had been bogging them down early on.
I hate to resurrect a thread, really I do. But I am wondering if anyone is still watching this?
The latest episode was quite good, and it also seems to have extended it's reach past the flashforward date.
I was very relieved when he didn't say 2012
I kind of hope this picks up a better viewer base, because although the faults are glaring and numerous, I enjoy it. I like the characters especially and it has nice production values.
So. Uh. Anyone? [Echo]
I thought it was an amusing bit of wishful thinking in the last episode when they mentioned that 2016 or something was "The End." Like--we've got the whole multi-season story arc planned out and everything will be resolved 4 seasons from now. Just like Lost!
I'm pretty sure that if you have at least a very rough idea of what is going on, you should be fine.
It made no sense.
"I'm trying to fight my flashforward so I'm going to go round to Mr Scientist's house for no real reason and then kiss him."
These little problems riddle the series, but you just have to look beyond them and put it down to some special mental illness.
That's just the most noticeable/annoying (followed by "I'm supposed to die in LA on this date. Let me stay in LA up until the day before, then try to leave all of a sudden!"). "Hey, we are broken up on April 15th. Hey, this is us breaking up! No, wait, why don't we compromise and save the marriage instead so bad things don't happen. Naw, too much work").
And all this besides the fact that there have been numerous examples of the flash-foward only showing a possible future, not the future.
Brannon Braga has touched this? Oh god run away!
Seriously, fuck that guy
I blame him for the horrible wife plot. (?!)
And maybe the Japanese girl plot. Srsly?
