Which is better, Izuna 2 or Shiren the Wanderer? I remember hearing better things about the latter.
I preferred Izuna 2, but never finished either.
Izuna has character and weapon variety and you can combine different characters to get fusion attacks, all of which I thought helped with the monotony. I never really got past the point of 'find a better sword and armor, hit things or run away' and I hated the hunger system (but I usually love roguelike hunger systems!).
Izuna has quite a few boss battles though which I thought didn't work terribly well.
Really, though, grinding in Shiren just completely kills it for me. I heard something to the effect of "Well, I died on the last boss, time to grind another +40 sword" once, and that alone destroys a huge amount of motivation I have for playing the game.

from this i have learned that many colleges could not design a decent website if their funding depended on it

I will tell you now having a few friends who are professors in the Liberal Arts area. Liberal Arts people fail at computers at that level. One friend had a copy of the same power point presentation for everytime she changed one word or picture. I think it came to 30 versions of the same thing on her hard drive and she did it for everyone she made.

But Craig Ferguson is a pretty nutty guy and he was snorting and drinking everything he could for a good couple of decades so it's very possible.
