Generally, people who feel the need to claim they are so smart rather than demonstrate it are in fact not that smart and are stupid cockbags about it.

I'm drinking because it is my only respite from crushing stress recently.

    How're you guys?

That sucks about the crushing stress. Drinking anything good?

It is canned lager of the type that is slightly above generic. I still have some pride.

Really I shouldn't complain, the stress involves my father dangling the prospect of giving me money as a deposit for a house then making the actual process of getting said money as difficult as possible.

It's kind of a rat-in-a-maze deal. I kind of wish he'd either give me the money or tell me I'm not actually getting it. This changing the goalposts every few days is killing me.

Well, I guess she lies on me when I fall asleep and gets off before I wake off, so it's like she does want my affection and is ashamed for it.

British law is strange and confusing

The problem, fundamentally, is that my father is essentially lending me the money for a mortgage deposit, on the understanding that at some unspecified point in the future he gets back the proportion of the value of the property that he lent to me in the first place. It's an investment, basically.

Now, the easiest and quickest way to do this is for him to give me the money as a gift (and document it as such), and to have a solicitor draw up a contract that says (without specifying why) that I owe my father X% of the market value of the property I'm buying, to be paid at any point or whenever the property is sold or otherwise liquidated.

My father has now decided that he is not happy to declare the money as a gift, and wants it documented as a loan from the outset, which basically means starting all over again with the purchase documents.

EDIT: Even though we talked about this and agreed on how we were going to do it two months ago.
