I don't know if this is relevent really to this thread but some of you who 'loathe' drunk drivers might appreciate this story. About 2 weeks ago in my neck of the surburban woods there was a real bad accident in the middle of the night. Then the next day from the cop that lives down the street, I learned that the cars were speeding heavily and swerved into each other's lanes and both drivers of both vehicles were killed instantly. It was featured in the paper this past week.
The kicker is that both were suspected to be heavily intoxicated. One of them even having recently drunken bottles of beer in the back seat.
edit: As7 I actually have his Steam account now, I found the login info in an old e-mail earlier today. That was what spurred me to register after lurking so long.

I get so angry thinking about drunk driving

is a fucking stupid thing to do and there is no excuse for it
even when drunk drivers kill other drunk drivers
it's just as stupid, there is nothing good or comforting about it
there must be something in the papers about it. not trying to discredit smokestacks or anything but there is something essential about a source in these situations. I tried for a bit, but without name, date, or city, my efforts were futile

driving drunk is a situation that a person doesn't just walk into, it implies a very, very reckless lack of planning
and while wishing death upon someone is not the thing to do, it is absolutely tolerable to hope that if the drunk driver does have an accident, they are the only participant of said accident.

the problem is precisely that they don't recognize that they actually have a problem because they have all sorts of excuses for their behavior
you can't really stop someone like that from potentially driving drunk again unless you fucking lock them up
