It's a game made by a forum members! It's nothing super polished, but it is quite fun.

    <3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Create a program by dragging program objects to allow a robot to do...I'm not sure what. I had enough fun trying to get him to navigate around obstacles. Although once a program is run, you really need to be able to simply press a button to re place everything you've put in the programming bar to make fixing mistakes a lot easier. But hey, the guy who made it is right here, so go fix it and stop playing wow ya bum. :)

Yeah, sorry the instructions are a little lacking. I used to be a computer lab teacher, and this was a little something I made to introduce programming concepts. I had a hard time writing the directions for 8 year olds, and opted just to spend a few class days explaining everything. Posting it to Newgrounds was more of an afterthought, and since a game like this isn't necessarily "For Them" I just kept it the way it is. Except I removed my terrible Garageband music to cut down on load time, I'm pretty proud that I managed to squeeze this whole game into 48k.

    Here are a few tips:

    • If you make a mistake in your program, you can just drop a new command over the errant memory block to replace it. You can also delete commands by dragging the blank command into the block.

    • Subroutines are a good way to cut down on the amount of time it takes to write some programs. Levels 2 and 4 especially. Once you're past level 5 subroutines are vital to your success.

    • Sub1 can call Sub2, but not the other way around. Bill's not smart enough to deal with infinite loops.

    • You will never need to use the reverse command, ever. I just like being able to make Bill moonwalk.

I have all kinds of crazy plans for a sequel. I want to do away with the level-to-level model and make Bill's Laboratory more of a sandbox environment. Instead of just appearing at random in the middle of an arbitrary stage, Bill has free run of the lab, but he can only start from Base Stations scattered throughout the lab. (I haven't played Chibi-Robo, but I guess the idea is similar there?) To further explore the lab, you need to guide Bill to new Base Stations to pair with, find chips to upgrade his memory, and I'm thinking (well... hoping) I'll probably have some Metroid-style puzzle solving: Bill can upgrade his systems with lasers to vaporize obstacles or improved treads so that he has enough grip to push objects -- because we all love block puzzles, right?

Anyway, I'm glad someone liked the game. If anyone has some constructive criticism, or even just a rude comment or whatever, I'd love to hear it!

Yeah, the built up fire towers in the beginning are perfect. I don't know why I didn't stick to the middle with the plant towers.

Why not ice towers? They have much better range.

For some reason, I've found that putting towers at the end of a road causes them to shoot *less*. Either that or the graphics aren't up to snuff and I just can't see the damn things shoot.

Those three you have stacked horizontal at the top; line them up VERTICALLY alongside the middle north-south path and put the topmost one lower than the uppermost horizontal road.

    YES!

Turns out the bullets go invisible if you put a tower at the end of a road; they still fire, but they're just not shown on the screen.

Start with a plant at the very bottom left and the absolute end of the road, then at the end of the next bend; keep it going that way. Plant, plant, plant.

You CAN put a plant tower on top of the "adjust quality" text.

    edit: Got 78.

It seems to be a bug in the game, happens to me quite often too.

Your build order and initial placement also really does make a difference. Not placing your towers for maximum utilization really hurts you at around lvl 50.

I can't believe we're all putting this much time and analysis into this <100kb (admittedly addictive) Flash game.

Towaa Defense would've been better if the towers were a wee bit smarter, I hate it when they keep shooting at 1 on a slow rate, while they could be shooting at new ones that come to them in a straight line (=faster shooting).

Oh, and the annoying *1.25 increase in HP every wave, while the money earning lags behind. :<

I cant for the life of me beat 80, by 80 each invader got about 848 969 914 hit points each, given a starting HP of 15, and multiplied by 1.25 for each wave.
    If you think they got 20 starting hps, its ofcourse even worse with 905 567 908 at 80 and 8 433 758 355 at 90 !!

Starting hps of about 15 seems about right I think.

Anyone gotten further than 82 ?

No matter what I do I cant save up 3k+5k+15k for the fully upgraded flower. I can get the 3k+5k variant, but if I do that, I lag behind and die around 50 wave.

Yeah, I realised this and that is the reason I did not write "what makes this worth playing instead of the real deal."

The only thing giving Elemental TD replayability is the fact that there are thousands of tower combinations, hundreds of which will with proper placement allow you to win the game. This game gives you the ability to, with sligh tweaking of your placement and possibly exchanging a tower or two, allow you to reach one or two more levels. Sorry for bitching on this game, I am an old TD fanatic and this is just a horrible one.
Where can I get Elemental TD?

I find games for Elemental TD fairly frequently on Battle Net. If you don't have access to it, I bet it is downloadable somewhere on the intarweb. Version 3.0 seems to be the latest.

I got really addicted to the dice game, but in the end it turned out to be too luck based for me. Last time I tried to play, I frequently got into a situation where early on an even fight (usually 3v3 or 4v4) would either lose me the game or give me a very promising position. I proceeded to lose those fights (and then the games) like eight times in a row. It did not help that the last game I won was a stalemate where I spent the last 40ish rounds in a stalemate with an opponent that was a fourth my size. I just could not win the even fights to break into his lands, and he frequently actually pushed me back into my own lands![/quote]

Sorry for the necropost, but to all of us that wondered if it was possible to beat the Tower Defense score of 84, and even the creator's boast of 90: the answer is yes.

Hint #1: Don't ever press the space bar!
Pressing the space bar removes a random chance of bonus dots spawning each and every level.
More dots per level = more money.
Sometimes up to 7 extra dots can spawn per level!

    Here's my screenie of a 101 score:
(yes, those are the 15k tier 3 flower towers)
Note: the score only displays the first two digits of a 3-digit number, so if you try to beat my score, remember what yours was - as it won't show up in a screenshot.

    1015cb.jpg

And here's the rest of the story, which is hint #2:
(note the URL in the first image above - use the direct link to the .swf file)

    101hint5ok.jpg

The secret is sizing your browser window to be taller than wider - this exposes the staging area for the dots, and you can build towers right on top of them.
The flower towers also fire faster vertically than horizontally - opposite of the green nature towers.

Building over the staging area gives you maximum rate of fire for the towers there, and not hitting the space bar adds tons of extra dots.

Now, anyone interested in trying to beat my score? :)
I think there's a lot of room for improvement.

Already linked but man, Dice Wars is so awesome. I build up real vendettas against certain nations. Those Lime-Greenies are scum.

Edit: Wow, I now love the water towers. Got me to wave 73 before the dots finally got too tough for them.

Sometimes when I place a tower at the end of a corridor it looks as if it's not hitting the dots until they're right up next to them, like the shots aren't getting through or something. I know sometimes the actual shot graphic doesn't come up but these don't seem to be causing damage either, this ended up being the death of me in my first proper go.

So yeah. I looked on their forums and got the gist of how to get a high score. It's based off of money. Which means, for high scores, don't put wood into anything but interest. Spam cannon towers (adding a few air towers for the stages with air creatures, but selling all but one before the end of the level, then sell the last one after the last shot is fired). And for those last couple levels, I do mean SPAM. I didn't want to take the effort, so I just started adding guys for the last couple levels. Still worked out for me.

For reference, top score is ~50k above mine.
