Funny that Limbaugh is immediately mentioned here, given his brush with "racism" this week. I also like the connotation that if Limbaugh/et. al don't make any mention of this judge, then they are "in on it. . ." Great time to be alive in America.

Earlier this evening, as most of you now know, one of our own, Rush Hudson Limbaugh, while taking withering fire, crashed and burned.
Tonight, Rush is no longer ‘just' a radio personality.

Tonight, Rush is us. And we are him.
Tonight Rush became the metaphor for all of us… every man woman and child in this great nation of ours.
The enemy of this great nation, the enemy of you and me, Rush's enemy… those on the left, inside and outside of this nation abhor success… and when faced with it will destroy it… by any and all means possible.
We all have our dreams in life… such as they might be. Rush dreamed of being an owner in the NFL.
Tonight the left proved that they will stop at nothing to end our dreams. Our dreams of success and happiness devastate their need to dominate and control you and me… and well everything and everyone.
Chrysler bondholders
GM dealers
Bankers and stockbrokers
Small business owners
Medical Doctors
Oppressed people wanting freedom around the world
The left can not and will not allow anyone to realize their dreams
Tonight a light went out… a dream died… it died from political correctness
Tonight we are under withering fire, we on the right those in the middle,
Tonight our values are under withering fire, those thoughts ideas and dreams that made this great nation are under withering fire
Will your light of your dreams be next?
Will my dreams be next?

your libido is monstrous and unkillable, I'm sure even in the event of a tactical nuclear strike it'd manage to emerge intact from the rubble, mutated into an unquenchable many headed beast, each one with an equally suggestive and talented mouth, like some kind of sex hydra.

Right. So we're using the small common-law powers (that in no way set precedent on their own) of a bigoted Louisiana justice of the peace as a proxy for true judicial officers setting legal precedent?
Limbaugh often comments on current events, especially when they allow him to be a giant flaming asshole.
Tell me another. There are how many political/current event commentators on the air? And Rush and Beck are singled out. Please don't play that bullshit here. This forum (seemingly) prides itself on rising above that kind of nonsense.

You're not seriously claiming that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck don't employ unusually hateful rhetoric, are you?

Beck and Limbaugh are singled out because they love to talk about activist judges killing America. If they're silent about this one, which flies in the face of a previous Supreme Court decision, then they're massive hypocrites.
You're not seriously claiming that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck don't employ unusually hateful rhetoric, are you?
Now you're reading into things. You went from defending the singling out of Limbaugh and Beck in a thread about southern racism, to trying to make this an argument about the existence of the language those two employ. Besides one mans "hateful rhetoric" is another mans "inflammatory proselytizing." And is there some sort of barometer for "hateful rhetoric?" Am I to take the usual hateful rhetoric one can find up and down blogs and message boards (from all political stripes) is a-ok?
Nonsense like vague comments about Rush's brushes with 'racism' in the special goal-post moving quotes? No, we apparently love that bullshitty nonsense.
Vague comments? Rush's removal from NFL ownership over racist comments he supposedly made has been all over the internets. Well I suppose not here, since the quotes aren't true.
So yea, the "bullshit" comment stands.
If they're silent about this one
This one what? A justice of the peace? How is a justice of the peace who hears what - marriage licenses and traffic tickets - even CLOSE to state and federal judges?
Nonsense like vague comments about Rush's brushes with 'racism' in the special goal-post moving quotes? No, we apparently love that bullshitty nonsense.

I had no idea what you were trying to say, really. Rush was the victim of racism, people accuse Rush of racism falsely, Rush rubbed on a girl called Racism. Who knows.

It's not that those blogs are "a-ok," It's that they don't have the sphere of influence that Beck and Limbaugh do.
He's saying that accusations of racism are much worse than actual racism. Which is the position of the entire right wing.
Racism like the McNabb quote or "Barack the Magic Negro" all of last year. Or:
"We are being told that we have to hope [Obama] succeeds, that we have to bend over, grab the ankles ... because his father was black."
"I do believe" Obama is an "angry black guy."
"n Obama's America, the white kids now get beat up with the black kids cheering."
"Obama's entire economic program is reparations."
Obama is "more African in his roots than he is American" and is "behaving like an African colonial despot."
Obama is "Halfrican-American."
"Obama has disowned his white half ... he's decided he's got to go all in on the black side."
"Here you have a black president trying to destroy a white policeman."
"if only President Obama had known that the three Somali community organizers were actually young, black Muslim teenagers, I'm sure he wouldn't have given the order to shoot."
And those are just the statements since Obama became a serious candidate for President! There's plenty more, all with links, here.
The best one though, with regards to the NFL:
Look it, let me put it to you this way. The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.
My cousin made this game: Gem Pop. It's legitimately fun, particularly for people who enjoy Bejewled, Dr. Mario, Tetris, etc. kinds of games. Only two bucks! If you try it out, PM me with what you think of it.
Only a matter of time before the Magic Negro was brought back up. If I had the time (or energy) to parse through every comment and statement every political commentator has made (regardless of the capacity and environment), I could find some one-liner whoopers and make a blog out of it.
Those quotes are full of racially charged material, but that doesn't make them in and of themselves racist. Stupid sure. Racist not so much.
It'll come to a point where when there is bonafide racism out there, we wont know how to actually respond to it.
And that bit about the "right wing" is just dumb. I'm sorry, I like to use inclusive team building language but come on. Can we please get over the generalizing?
Look it, let me put it to you this way. The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.
I am shocked NFL players spoke out against him. They're probably racists.
I didn't even look hard or post a comprehensive list! Just some highlights from the Obama campaign/administration and the man has been on the radio for what, 29 years? He's at the very, very, very least a racially insensitive jackass who thinks everything the black President does is about race and draws everything vaguely racial to the President. Best case is he is knowingly playing to the racists in his audience.
My cousin made this game: Gem Pop. It's legitimately fun, particularly for people who enjoy Bejewled, Dr. Mario, Tetris, etc. kinds of games. Only two bucks! If you try it out, PM me with what you think of it.
Pretty much anything negative that can happen will instantly be turned into a Limbaugh/Beck hate thread. Correct?
Unless i missed the part that this judge has been linked somehow to Limbaugh or Beck.
Thus the split. This is now explicitly a Rush thread.

It's that they don't have the sphere of influence that Beck and Limbaugh do.
True. However I can count on one hand (for each man) the comments that each has made that deserve a whiffle bat to the head. It seems the rallying call for the Anti-Beck set is his ". . .prove you're not a terrorist" screed. That is definitely one of the ". . .I should not improvise dialogue" moments in broadcast history, and Beck should've at the least clarified and apologized for how the comment came out; but using that as the foundation for the Beck hate. . .a bit overboard.
Best case is he is knowingly playing to the racists in his audience.
Ha! That assumption right there plays into what you just complained about - that the entirety of political dialogue can be parsed down into race matters.
Pretty much anything negative that can happen will instantly be turned into a Limbaugh/Beck hate thread. Correct?

They've gone up in arms about "activist judges" in the past doing far less than personally overwriting a previous Supreme Court decision.
I expect they will be similarly incensed about this.
This guy is an activist judge?
He's a "Justice of the Peace". His personal decision not to marry an interracial couple ignores Loving v. Virginia. He's a Justice acting in direct opposition to a prior ruling by a high court. He's an activist judge.

OK, let's hear an alternate explanation as to why he links everything vaguely racial to Obama and links everything Obama does to his race that does not in some way imply that he is either racist or playing to the racists in his audience. I'm curious as to how this works.

I'm pretty sure that would have been in response to the school bus beatdown that got national play. It involved a white kid, getting beaten up by black kids. . .while black kids (and I think I saw a white kid in there) cheered them on.

I'm not attacking Limbaugh. I fully expect him to spend at least 5 minutes of his hours of programming time tomorrow condemning this individual for his blatant judicial activism.

Really? You think Limbaugh is going to consider this a special case unworthy of mention?
From your quotes, the ones I would consider to be uneccessarily racially charged are the quotes about white police officer. . .and actually that's it. The rest are stupid snarky remarks with a racial bent to it. If I were a political commentator, and I saw everyone walking on eggshells to protect the President, especially in matters of race - I probably would be a toolbox and make jokes about it as well, because it is absolutely ludicrous that a person can not - even if their assumptions are wrong - make comments that are centered around race.
Now, if you take EVERY quote Limbaugh says, that alludes to the race of the president, regardless of context and insist on painting it as racially charged language meant to incite - it does a disservice to real racism and small minded bigotry.
That's text book judicial activism.
Then we are seriously lowering the bar on "judicial activism." This isn't judicial activism, this is one individual refusing to follow the law and not following through with his sworn duty. There is a difference.

He's a judicial official ignoring precedent. At that point it's purely definitional.
