There was so much shit going on in Impel Down I never even stopped to wonder by Blackbeard was there. Of course, to recruit crew members. It's a very Luffy-like thing to do IMO, Blackbeard wants the best crew so he goes to Impel Down to get the most notorious pirates.

What is One Piece?
One Piece is a manga written by this goofy dude named Oda. It's about:
Pirates - One who stretches, one who fights with three swords, one who steals stuff and has a chest that grows and grows as the arc goes on, one who lies and invents stuff, one who cooks and kicks people real pretty, a blue nosed reindeer doctor, one who can replicate any (and I mean any) body part even though she mainly reads and says cryptic things, one who is the true cyborg son of god, died for our sins and repairs the ship in our soul, and an eight foot tall pile of bones who poops and wants to see your underwear, and sometimes plays songs and walks on water. Those are our heroes, the Strawhat Pirates. There are a hell of a lot more pirates out there that rob, plunder, and go on adventures. Some are good guys, some aren't.
Marines - They uphold "Justice" because it's written on the back of their jackets. The cops to the pirates robbers. At least they look good doing it. Pretty even split between people just trying to uphold the peace (and get their ass kicked by pirates) and giant douche bags working for the giant assholes who run the World Government (and usually kick the pirates' ass)
Dreams - People have them. If you're a bad guy, Luffy crushes your dream. It's a fate worse than death.
Adventure - Pirates and adventure is like peanut butter and jelly.

The manga is released in the US by Viz. They do an acceptable job. Before this year started they were at the end of Alabasta, but now they are releasing six or seven volumes a month every month for the entire year. This should put them only about a year behind when 2011 comes around, not bad considering right now they are close to seven or eight years behind!

Anyways, the anime is really good. Watch the new subtitled episode for free each week on Saturday at Nine PM Eastern at www.onepieceofficial.com They also have the first 100+ episodes up either subtitled or dubbed. The dub is really good if you're into that sort of thing.
