[WoW-Warriors] Blizzard's perfect class. Envy us.

Yeah, but there are a hell of a lot of ways for quite a few classes to escape from a melee snare, esp after you started bladestorm. It's a natural reaction to immediately free yourself (if you can) and create space. It's what I do when I see another warrior use it. Or I disarm immediately.
I've very rarely seen it used to great effect.
Not as touchy as blink? Have you ever tried to use heroic leap on any sort of incline? You cannot use heroic leap on anything uphill, so half the time in BGs it bugs out.

This is because you are not using it properly. You don't use bladestorm on someone before they use their melee snare escape abilities. If you see someone who can disarm, it is assumed that they will disarm you if you attempt to use bladestorm. If they use it before you bladestorm, you have free reign to destroy them.
Basically, bladestorm is one of those things that separates warriors. If you use it properly, you will win.

You definitely can heroic leap upwards, but there seems to be a limit. I'm actually toying with it right now in the Temple of Earth in Deepholm. I was able to HL from the floor all the way up the stairs leading to the Orgrimmar portal. Decided to go out front with the larger stair case to see how many of them I can leap up. I was able to jump all the from the ground to the very top. That's a pretty significant incline, and is sure a hell of a lot more than nothing. Feel free to test it.
It looks like that staircase (the entrance to the Temple of Earth) is right about the peak of Heroic Leap's height, and if that's the limit to the incline you can jump up, it would make quite a bit of sense to me. You can't heroic leap over obstacles, but you can't blink through them either. And I know that there's many spots I can Heroic Leap over/through where you wouldn't be able to blink through, and I can't think of a single situation where the opposite is true.. In my opinion, that's working better.
Orgrimmar, on the left side of the Valley of Strength, there's slanted inclines. Have no issue leaping up those either.
Found another incline, it's a bit steeper and not a steady one. I can run up it, but can't leap up it. Seems that if the incline is too sharp of an angle, or if the path leading up isn't very broad, you can't leap. Basically, when it reaches a point where you question whether you can run up it, HL does the same and just decides, "screw it, not doing it".
I just don't think it's anywhere near as bad as some people are making it out to be, and it definitely beats the hell out of blink.
If you plan on Tanking its hard to give up the 359 trinket you get from Alchemy too.
Heroic Leap is pretty selective in when it wants to work, and I think Blizzard wanted it that way to prevent exploits. That being said, I love having it for the Atramedes fight in BWD.

Best you can really do is pick up a 346 agi weapon and reforge one of the stats if need be.
Being an engineer, I just whipped up one of the regular blue guns and am using that for the moment.

Actually, you can leap to the ground from the tops of cliffs... kinda. You can't leap from the top of the cliff, but you can jump off the cliff and jump from mid air. Just have to make sure you don't mess up and splat yourself.
Thanks, my shield-bearing brethren.
As others have said, the only non-raid option is a 318 green quest reward from Uldum. Scarab-inlaid crossbow iirc.
Can anyone suggest a good baseline HP/avoidance to start heroic tanking?
Dude man, why arent you doing heroics yet? ilvl 338? I was doing heroics the second I hit ilvl 329, and as long as your group is decent you will be fine.
The horror stories scare me, hehe well no but I'm helping some irl friends to gear up so we can play some heroics in a guildgroup before we start pugging. Not knowing any fights is kinda bad when others sort of expect the tank to lead.
Lol, I use the "derp finder" constantly, and the groups have been always fine as long as I mark everything. I also just go afk for 2 minutes before every boss I haven't done before and I watch the video on youtube. It has worked out pretty well for me and I have managed to finish every heroic I have started. But hey, being extra geared can't hurt I guess.
