So apparently, Hamid Karzai just got declared the winner by default after Abdullah Abdullah pulled out of the run-off.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8337832.stm
"Although the process was messy, I'm pleased to say that the final outcome was determined in accordance with Afghan law," Obama said.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/11/02/afghanistan.election.runoff/index.html

The US has pretty much accepted and endorsed a government that was elected by unadulterated fraud, assuming that a somewhat stable corrupt government is better than trying to make things legitimate.

No one on any American news station is really saying anything about it.

Does anyone else find this even moderately fucked?

Everything is fucked. Everything. Corruption is everywhere, profits and greed dictate what we do and how we live. Nothing matters, nothing's going to change. This is humanity, a free for all with a few warm and fuzzy episodes to distract us from the horrible reality that nothing will ever change no matter how long we live.

The best Halloween costume that i saw over this weekend was Osama Bin Ladin with a bomb made out of dildos strapped to his chest.

Anyhow, nuke em or build a big ass fence around them and northern Pakistan. Iran I bet will globalize eventually, but forget those other two nuthouses. Or alternatively, get China to deal with them.

Eventually I'm hoping that the US will figure out that exporting democracy doesn't really work. If a country comes to democracy on its own, that is great for them and can work out moderately well. The countries into which democracy has been brought by force are fraught with difficulties of all stripes.

Then again, I'm probably biased because I think American foreign policy for the last 50+ years has been spurred by guilt over being late to WWI and WWII. To make up for it, they are trying to start WWIII so nobody can bad mouth them after the fact.

In the state in which I live, revisionist history is the only history. I work with a dude who calls rap and hip/hop music "Obama music" but than insists his dislike of Obama has nothing to do with race. LOL okay duder

taliban supporting al-qaeda =/= taliban attacking the US

It's just, my line of reasoning (which could be wrong):

    al-qaeda attacking the US

al-qaeda residing at the time in Afghanistan

ruling group of Afghanistan supporting al-qaeda

So going into Afghanistan seemed like the right thing to do to me. Again, I am not saying Afghanistan attacked the US.
