It's out now, folks! Why aren't you playing it?

Hello and welcome to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 thread! While posting here and playing with other people remember:

a) Have fun.
b) Don’t be a dick, even if doing so accomplishes a) for you.

What does Wikipedia have to say about it?

Wikipedia description:
Spoiler:

I checked and surprisingly this description basically hasn’t changed, so eh.

Ground Rules

I've PM'd Echo about these, since I don't want to come off sounding like I think I have Mod-like powers, but I'll post them in this spoiler and let you guys decide whether they sound reasonable.

What about weapons, perks, etc?

I want to play with people on this forum!

(X360) Friends List for that console which overheats a lot:

We've got a CoD Clan Meta-Tag run by Burtletoy: A PA CoD Clan

If you send a friend invite to this account, either pm Burtletoy on the forums, or send a message to his real xbox gamertag, Brutletoy (Not Burtletoy, like his forum handle) If you just post something in this thread, he might see it an reminder to add you.

Special Burtletoy related update!
Burtletoy wrote: »
Either way, what it comes down to is it is my list, and I'm not going to be the one sending the invites cause I don't want to and I'm going to go home and take my ball with me!

In other words, send the invite to the clan, don't expect him to take the time to send invites to you.

There's also PA CoD4, which is an older account with a lot of names on it, I think it was being run by I King Kong I. It probably isn't being maintained anymore, FYI.

(PS3) Friends List for that console which people seem to laugh out loud about for some reason:
Spoiler:
(PC) Friends List for that console which actually isn’t a console and uses some sort of program called ‘Storm’, or whatever.
Spoiler:

We also have a Steam group! It's public, so no need for invites. PM Fleck0 if you have any other questions.

And finally, a funny:

I stayed awake over 24 hours but then still went to midnight launch, just beat the campaign a few hours ago. So worth it. Easily GOTY.

Just now played multiplayer for a few hours with a friend, taking a break now. Feel free to add me on Live, my gamertag is in my signature.

I feel like levelling is really sped up compared to MW1. I'm almost level 10 now, and that's after almost beating the campaign. I remember that level 10 took me a couple days, before.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to build a "Stabby" class.

Marathon seems to be mandatory, as does Cold Blooded.

But for the third perk, should I go Scrambler or Commando? Commando's the obvious choice, but then, I know that I turn into a gibbering idiot whenever someone scrambles MY radar. It's worked pretty well so far.

But Scrambler does alert people to your presence. I think it probably works better on clusterfuck stairway maps like Favela.

Well, the entire idea of a run-around-stabbing-people class really only works on maps like that anyway, huh.

I just remembered that one of the loading screen "intel" bits was about the Tactical Knife option, which I guess lets you stab faster when you're holding a pistol with that "attachment" equipped? (omg Snake Eater CQC anybody)

Has anybody used this? I wonder how many pistol kills I'd need to unlock it.

It comes with one of the premade classes; it is faster, it allows you to return to your secondary weapon more quickly. Dunno kill count.

And while we're at it, I saw an extremely goofy-but-effective way to play earlier tonight--one of the guys in my game lobby exclusively used the riot shield with a throwing knife. He ended almost every round with a positive K:D ratio!

The solution is semtex, it turns out. It sticks to that riot shield quite nicely.

I never really cared about dedicated servers per se. I did fear the change they represented, but everything seems to be running smoothly on the first day. Which is really more than I can say for most games that come with interesting and new . . . "doohickies".

That being said, this game was freaking intense! Bought it at noon, beat it an hour ago, kicked ass every step of the way.

I'm loving the Spec-Op missions. I need some major practice for the MP though...I knew I was rusty but not this bad.

I think my only complaint so far...Party Chat! There is nothing more annoying than a random 13 year old popping on your team, yapping about nonsense.

If you just want to play online on ONLY hardcore mode, can you just search for a hardcore game? Watching gameplay videos, I noticed most people play with magic radar/superman life turned on. Hardcore mode is the only real way to play this game.

I am not liking that first Brazil level, where enemies are fucking everywhere on multiple levels and you get turned around so easily. I don't even know how that's going to be feasible in Veteran.
