At first the game froze when I was on my Roland, and continued to freeze on loading the game no matter what I did. So then I tried to play my Brick, and the game froze after 5 minutes of play, and continued to freeze on loading the game. Finally, I decided to make a new character, and now the game freezes as soon as it loads as well.
I've deleted my game, redownloaded, and updated my graphics drivers, yet it still freezes as soon as I load a save.
Help please?
Radeon 4850
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
Abit KN9 Ultra
4GB RAM
Perhaps lowering the graphics to minimum and seeing if that goes?
Mass Effect, and Modern Warfare 2 run just fine on max settings. Maybe a bad stick of ram perhaps?
I've been having a problem lately where it'll lock up and won't budge until I alt-tab, and then it'll start moving again. Not really sure what's up with that. It's pretty intermittent, and only started after I downloaded Moxxi.
When you reinstalled the game, did you wipe your config files? Back up your saves and any modified configs and wipe the Borderlands folder in My Documents to see if there's something that got corrupted in there. Doubtful, but it's worth a shot.
Sorry man. I'm on PC.
Isn't there a PA group on the 360 though similar to the PC Steam group?

GSID is Kain3k, and I'm on the PA Vent in one of the game on channels all by my lonesome.
I'm having the exact same problem after getting the dlc. I usually have to ctrl+alt+del, it will go to Windows for a second, then automatically dump me back into game after 15 seconds. It usually takes a few of times of this back and forth when first entering into a game until it starts working permanently (until I shut down the game.) It was perfectly fine before the dlc. There were also a couple of posts on the Gearbox forums from people having the same issue, but no real fix so far.

STRIKES!
EDIT: Someone (Turk645) over on GB forums has been doing some interesting stuff w/ custom maps and mods. He found three unused enemy types, which you can see here:

EDIT II (Why so quiet today?):
IGN Story on Borderlands (1/20)
Whole piece:
Gearbox's dystopian first-person shooter is officially a hit. Is a sequel in the works?
by Matt Casamassina
January 20, 2010 - Gearbox Software's Borderlands -- half first-person shooter and half loot-based role-playing game -- won't appeal to mom and dad any time soon, and that's the point. From the onset, the title was designed specifically for traditionalist players -- the so-called hardcore -- in a move that had some pundits promising lackluster sales, especially given the license was unestablished. But the NPD Group, which tracks videogame software sales, released its holiday figures last week and the results are indisputable: Borderlands is a hit.
The title, which shipped for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last October, surpassed a publishing milestone in December, toppling one million units sold cumulatively in North America. The title also charted in the Top 10 best-selling PC games during its debut month. Additionally, sources tell IGN that Borderlands has been downloaded more than 100,000 times digitally since its release. A fantastic performance for a relatively unknown license made for a single demographic.
Take-Two, parent to publisher 2K Games, said earlier this month that Borderlands has sold more than two million copies globally since its release.
With the success of Wii, publishers across all platforms have increasingly tried to glide the line between hardcore and casual experiences in sometimes-futile attempts to satisfy both audiences. But Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford (spoofed in an IGN original video) believes it was the developer's determination to make an undiluted hardcore project that ultimately helped it become successful.
"Perhaps Borderlands can be a lesson for all of us -- that when making a videogame, we should not be afraid to identify gamers as the audience," he told IGN. "I wonder if too frequently publishers and developers are so caught up with going after new, untapped audiences that they can forget to care for the largest, most loyal and reliable audience there is -- the current gamer."
Borderlands resonated with gamers early on, earning critical buzz for its compelling setting, friendly first-person controls, seemingly endless variety of weapons and massive grinding system, allowing players to continuously level-up throughout the experience. According to IGN sister-site GameStats, which monitors the popularity of videogames based on a wide spectrum of metrics, the press and gamer scores for the title range from 8.4 to 8.6 (out of 10), which suggests strong word of mouth stayed sales through the holiday season.
The title racked up sales on PS3 and Xbox 360. But with an installed base surpassing 50 million globally, Nintendo's Wii is far and away the most popular videogame console, and yet so-called hardcore games -- particularly those not published by Nintendo -- have not traditionally performed well on the platform. So does Gearbox have any thoughts on cracking through the casual barrier to deliver Wii owners a specialized version of Borderlands?
"Clever!" said Pitchford when asked. "I respect the question and why you need to ask it, but I'm afraid I have nothing to announce at this time about Borderlands for other platforms."
Fair enough, but with a bonafide hit on his hands, we also asked Pitchford about plans for a sequel and he remained equally noncommittal.
"We are investing a lot of time in supporting the game with free updates and paid downloadable content. There will be some announcements on both fronts soon, I expect," he said. "We have a lot of motivation to do more with the game and have a lot of lessons we're applying not only to our immediate efforts, but to our ambitions for the future. I don't have anything specifics to announce at this time, though."
In early December, Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two, said it owned the long-term publishing rights for the Borderlands franchise and added that he expected it to become a "key franchise" for the company.
Hot on the heels of a hot holiday release, it therefore seems very likely that the next official chapter in the Borderlands universe is more likely than not. So what might we expect from such a sequel? Well, more guns, of course.
"As successful as Borderlands is and as much fun as everyone is having going after all the loot and finding and using all the weapons in the game, I often think that we really missed the mark by only doing 87 bazillion guns," Pitchford joked. "I've got to run this by the team, but I think the next time we should go for 88 bazillion guns."
Edit- Torgue , Hyperion and Maiwan are the best. Atlas would be good if I could find any, Vladof and S&S make good quality weapons as does Jacobs and Dahl is almost but not as bad as Tediore the wall mart of borderland weapons.
Edit 2 Holy hell I finnally found a good Plague bearer mod , I had been looking for one forever!
+56 Corrosive damage
+3 venom
+4 inner glow
+3 mind games
+39 corrosive effect
i've had up to 3 orange guns in the same red chest.
of course they tend to be crappy equalizers/firehawks/rebels/etc.
still, 2 volcanoes is rare.

If you're Mordecai, yes. Some of the high end machine pistols are gross, especially if you're gunslinger specced and modded. They make good SMG-replacements for him, if you can find the right type.
Everyone else, no, you won't really be using repeaters as a main gun outside of the VERY beginning, when ammo is precious and you don't have much choice in what gun you use.
I forget if there are any really good orange repeaters.
Speaking of orange, I'd really like to get the sniper shotgun or the shotgun sniper. Either would make my day, but I haven't had either drop, ever.
Yes. With the correct mord spec you can unload a 60 round 200+ damage repeater in about 2 secs and reload in about half that.
EDIT: Damn you Kainy!
Elephant gun?
No, there's a specific sniper (which I have but whose name I've forgotten) that has a x6 modifier on damage (i.e. fires like a shotty). It's not that good.
I stayed away from repeaters on my hunter playthrough since I was using a scavenger class mod rather than gunslinger, and revolvers are just too cool.
However.
On playthrough 2.5 I found a repeater with a firerate of 14(ish, not sure exactly), damage of 250. Switched to a gunslinger mod with +74% pistol fire rate, +19 pistol ammo regen, +33% pistol magazine. The accuracy is still pretty low (around 85 I think) but that just means I can spread the wealth.... of pain. Magazine capacity is 83 with the mod.
I basically point it at something and pull the trigger and whatever is in front of me dies.
The boss at the end of Zombie island? I had to reload once.
Tall-Paul MIPsDroid
Jakobs Skullmasher, going by the wikia. Has the red text "Makes their brain hurt".
The sniper shotgun, on the other hand, is the Jakobs Striker - "Sniper Rifles are for Chumps".
I've yet to see either of them drop. Although, I did get an S&S Crux as the reward for 'Scavenger : Shotgun' while on Playthrough 1 with Mordecai. Dark orange too. Shocked the hell out of me...

I've been slowly (couple hours a week) playing the game w/ 3 more or less non-gamer friends. I get a little frustrated how slowly we move (esp. their difficulty evaluating a new gun, shield, or mod against what they have), but it's still great fun. And man, now that we're in the Rust Commons it is just nuts (!) how many Spiderants spawn with four players. We had three Badass Corrosive spawn at one time on our way to the Earl's Booze quest, and even that wasn't the end of it.
I have found several skullsmashers and they are pretty good for everything except Lance. I have yet to see the damn striker and I really want one too.
WENN?!
I'm still using a repeater I found around level 30 with a 17.7 fire rate, a 30 clip and *4 Lightning. Damage isn't so great, but it demolishes anything with a shield instantaneously.
it's basically a hellfire for hunters.
