You know Satana is just delaying their return until Man-Thing blooms or whatever.

His true form will be terrible to behold.

Thunderbolts ends in May, but seems to just be getting a name change, and #175 and 176 will be in June., still by Parker.

Redeemers would be the only thing to make sense, unless they go back to full villain and make it a Masters of Evil ongoing. I sure hope not.

It should become Thunderbolt and the Thunderbolts, with Red Hulk replacing Luke Cage.

As long as Troll, Cage, Mockingbird and the others are around, I'm in.

Glad this time-travel arc is over, though.

Masters of Evil would be good for an arc, but not as a longterm thing.

Red Hulk would be a good replacement leader, but it wouldn't necessitate a name change.

The Thunderbolts are totally going to kill The Thunderbolts in order to become the Masters of Evil.

Red Hulk leading the T-bolts would be thoroughly awesome.

If you can't beat them, arrange to have them beaten in your presence.

I fully support a General leading the Thunderbolts

Red Hulk leading the Thunderbolts could work and a nice pun to use, although that might be the new equivalent of C&D, where Hulk gets cancelled and merged into Thunderbolts. If it could absorb 50% of Hulk's sales it would keep the title going a bit longer. To me I would like to see Cage still be the leader, because there is so much more potential leading the T-bolts than working in the Avengers these days, and he doesn't come across as such a generic character. And we really haven't seen Cage lead since that Hyperion story, he's been to the side for being the leader.

Ross leading the 'Bolts would be interesting. I think Cage has done a good job (so to speak...they've done a good job with him) as leader, but I always thought he was a bit of an odd choice. Seemed almost like they wanted to put a more recognized character as the figurehead to attract more attention - the way they titled the first TPB "Cage" irritated me for that reason - but Cage really has never been that popular by himself (I don't think?).

You realize Cage also works as a pun since they are in prison and makes it a pretty good title

Meh. Yeah, but they already did "Caged Angels" as the title of a TPB before that.

If Luke sticks around, they should do an arc where he's trapped in the women's prison and call it Caged Heat.

    I would so read this.

On Cage, I actually liked the idea of Luke as the Thunderbolts leader, but the execution never really hit me right.

I mean, I understand that Cage is a no-nonsense guy. An innocent man, framed for a crime he didn't commit, who became a hero, following a stint in jail. That's an interesting foil for a group of hardened criminals, aspiring to be heroes.

But in practice, Cage just came off as a dick nine times out of ten. He barely seemed to tolerate his charges, let alone like or empathize with them. You'd think the point of putting Cage in the role of leader, would be to give the Thunderbolts an aspirational figure, rather than an adversarial one. But, that's exactly what they got. A guy who did nothing but criticize and demean them, until things finally spun wildly out of control.

I think Parker was trying to write Luke as a guy who was legitimately wronged by the system, and therefore had no sympathy for a group of people who'd actually earned their time behind bars. But, it really didn't do anything to make Cage look competent, or even professional. He lost control of Crossbones, harangued Juggernaut into slipping back into supervillainy, ostracized and alienated the fully-reformed Fixer, and finally lost his entire team into the time-stream.

The dude's entire tenure has been a massive failure, and the bulk of it rests entirely on him.

I actually got a different feel from Luke

When he was around the T-bolts, yeah he was a hardass. He wanted to make it clear that he would put up with no shit from them, and that he was in charge, no questions asked.

But when not around them, he always expressed an intent to actually get these guys to reform. He honestly, truly believes (as does John Walker) that the program is worth the effort and that they can make a difference.

Villain to hero is a plotline that I have always liked. I often feel like the T-Bolts are on the cusp of being heroes but that they never actually make the crossover, which is slightly annoying to me because one of the coolest things about villain to hero is that it has a great payoff.

    T-Bolts #171,
    Spoiler:

One thing I was worried about this issue was seeing Walker photo referencing a few faces. It's not that many, but you can easily tell them from others in the issue (pages 4 and 5) and from other art he draws, which has distinct linework, which makes me worried a bit, because Larocca started doing the same thing, just a little bit here and there, and then he changed his style and it became stagnant, but nowhere near Land's levels.

Walker's done that a bit in the past for Magic cards, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

#173 was pretty fun. I think Parker got a spring back in his step when it moved back into Thunderbolty goodness and away from time-traveling for time-traveling's sake. I'm pretty excited to see how the Moonstone/Fixer stuff is going to be resolved and the assault on Latveria.

Songbird was a jerk this issue, hella trailer trash. And that probably was the best Zemo face in years, since Bagley actually. Grummett always made him look more Wade Wilson-ish than Crypt Keeper.

T'underbolts Tower is about as unpublic as anything short of the Batcave gets

that said, is anyone else unable to not pronounce Thunderbolts as T'underbolts after the Shalvey interview on CBR awhile back?

On another note, I'm thinking of renaming the thread now that the name of the comic has changed. Thoughts?
