The Dark [Thunderbolting] Avengers: Hoping the Next Leap is the Leap Back Home

His true form will be terrible to behold.
(watch the boners)
Redeemers would be the only thing to make sense, unless they go back to full villain and make it a Masters of Evil ongoing. I sure hope not.

Glad this time-travel arc is over, though.
Red Hulk would be a good replacement leader, but it wouldn't necessitate a name change.

Steaaaaaaam
Meh. Yeah, but they already did "Caged Angels" as the title of a TPB before that.

I would so read this.
On Cage, I actually liked the idea of Luke as the Thunderbolts leader, but the execution never really hit me right.
I mean, I understand that Cage is a no-nonsense guy. An innocent man, framed for a crime he didn't commit, who became a hero, following a stint in jail. That's an interesting foil for a group of hardened criminals, aspiring to be heroes.
But in practice, Cage just came off as a dick nine times out of ten. He barely seemed to tolerate his charges, let alone like or empathize with them. You'd think the point of putting Cage in the role of leader, would be to give the Thunderbolts an aspirational figure, rather than an adversarial one. But, that's exactly what they got. A guy who did nothing but criticize and demean them, until things finally spun wildly out of control.
I think Parker was trying to write Luke as a guy who was legitimately wronged by the system, and therefore had no sympathy for a group of people who'd actually earned their time behind bars. But, it really didn't do anything to make Cage look competent, or even professional. He lost control of Crossbones, harangued Juggernaut into slipping back into supervillainy, ostracized and alienated the fully-reformed Fixer, and finally lost his entire team into the time-stream.
The dude's entire tenure has been a massive failure, and the bulk of it rests entirely on him.

When he was around the T-bolts, yeah he was a hardass. He wanted to make it clear that he would put up with no shit from them, and that he was in charge, no questions asked.
But when not around them, he always expressed an intent to actually get these guys to reform. He honestly, truly believes (as does John Walker) that the program is worth the effort and that they can make a difference.
Villain to hero is a plotline that I have always liked. I often feel like the T-Bolts are on the cusp of being heroes but that they never actually make the crossover, which is slightly annoying to me because one of the coolest things about villain to hero is that it has a great payoff.
Now she doesn't have to use her carapace to make her constructs, it's like the old days.
One thing I was worried about this issue was seeing Walker photo referencing a few faces. It's not that many, but you can easily tell them from others in the issue (pages 4 and 5) and from other art he draws, which has distinct linework, which makes me worried a bit, because Larocca started doing the same thing, just a little bit here and there, and then he changed his style and it became stagnant, but nowhere near Land's levels.
*scrambles for issues*
edit: that is incredibly awesome.

And then Hyde wouldn't share his grog with her at the party.
The Marvel U is definitely not a troll's world. She should come visit this one and become a god.

If Hyde was her father, she could drink with his permission if she wasn't six or something.
Above the age of five
but not in a public place
T'underbolts Tower is about as unpublic as anything short of the Batcave gets
that said, is anyone else unable to not pronounce Thunderbolts as T'underbolts after the Shalvey interview on CBR awhile back?
The out in this whole time loop thing is that his younger dead body was thrown into Man-Thing's little swamp garden, so maybe Man-Thing-Fixer will be reborn in a bit?
All that, just to have the character end up in a never-ending timeloop?
Pretty weak. Either Parker was making a commentary on the nature of cyclical storytelling in mainstream comics, or he just really failed to stick the landing.

So good, you guys.
I want to see how Luke responds to the Thunderbolts returning, what FACT's plans are, how Mach V and Songbird react to Fixer's death, whether any of the Dark Avengers are actually capable of redemption, more of Troll's relationship with Songbird, if there will be a new team of Thunderbolts, etc.
There's so much going on in this comic, and I love all of it. It pulls off the unique trick of feeling like a real, breathing world, within the confines of a shared universe.

On another note, I'm thinking of renaming the thread now that the name of the comic has changed. Thoughts?
