I just started Crystal Bearers last night, and let me tell you something: I am a tolerant guy when it comes to annoying voices. I just laugh it off. That said, that Selkie girl can go straight to Hell. I hate her. I hate her more than I have ever hated any character in such a short period of time after being introduced to them. And you can't throw her or knock her off-balance or everything. She is immune to every form of retribution. And the worst part is that I can pretty much guarantee that Layle is going to fall in love with her by the end of the game because that's just how these things work. It isn't even like watching a train wreck. It's like watching a train depart from the station, knowing that at some point in the future you're going to have to watch it wreck.
On the other hand, throwing stuff around is fun and it sorta reminds me of Mischief Makers. I guess I will hang around for that.
She'd be more interesting if she could just go five minutes without becoming a damsel in distress and screaming for help.

I got used to her VA because it's the same voice she used for Rise in P4, Welch in SO4, and Marta in Symphonia 2. She only has the one voice.
Yeah. I didn't hate Belle. I didn't particularly like her either, but she had a better voice than, say, Vaigali.

I just started playing Dawn of the New World again maybe a day after finishing CB and I didn't even notice.
And Chun-Li in Street Fighter IV.
I happen to love her VA work, but even I have limits when she's screaming most of her dialogue or constantly emphasizing that Layle is a CRYSTAL BEARER.
I'm not giving the game enough time, since I'm really into Silent Hill SM, so I can't form a real opinion yet.
It's an interesting idea in theory, sure, but here it comes off as shipping, as you said. Too much "oh don't be grumpy Mr Sephiroth, I still think you're kawaii ^ ^".
In any event, such a meeting is kind of impossible since

Found it and he pretty much confirms that Hope is as annoying as I thought he would be.
And Lightning and Sazh are the best characters. That's 2/3. I don't know I may have to sub Fang out for Vanille.
She is packing Bahamut, but I need a good healer and Vanille is starting to grow on me.
I tend to like his writing, even when I don't agree. He brings up something which I had noticed but hadn't gotten around to commenting on: the monster design.
It's pretty goddamn weird when it comes to FF enemies that aren't classic monsters. One thing I noticed late in the game is that the dog-like things you encounter throughout the game have a very consistent design between species, and then there's one towards the end-game that has weird bony protrusions like vestigial wings. It was then that I realized the flying enemies (which you see in the opening sequence) are clearly based on the same design.
I can't help enjoying that kind of consistency in creature design, such that it actually feels like a viable ecosystem.
Worse.
Fangirls ruin everything. You hear about a chick who likes FF, you don't think "that's hot", you wonder how many burgers she stuffs into her gullet a day.

I'm honestly not sure on her Sephiroth bearing Cloud's child stance. I'd ask her sometime, but she's busy with how much she absolutely loves Crisis Core to the point that it's weird. I think she likes Zack much more than Cloud. She has some Loveless locket from CC, too. So maybe she'd be more in tune with a Genesis carrying Zack's biological child sort of thing.

For real though I can't totally dislike Snow because he punches things, and I just have a soft spot for those characters. Even Zell.
And Hope gets points because his version of Alexander is badass.
