Looking at those map screenshots I'm wondering if you'll be on a ship and the 'labyrinth' you'll be exploring is actually an entire ocean. There do seem to be a lot of water tiles...
Islands and sunken cities would make for great dungeons. It would also be cool if you fought other ship crews from time to time.
Also the EO series has some of my favorite art ever.
I thought it was quite a shame that they didn't do it in EO2. The game is first person after all so you never have to even bother modeling them, just make a bunch of different ones.
I may actually try RENTING the game this time.
It's a huge pain in the ass to have someone die and then pretty much have no recourse but to warp wire out and then restart the level.
DS games are rentable now? Well, that's news to me.
Unless you mean "renting" in which case it makes sense.
And I do that thing you do with most games. I pick them up eventually, but it takes several months normally.

Blockbusters do DS games, and they get new games pretty fast in my experience.

At some point before (or maybe just into) the Second Stratum (floor 6), you'll be able to sell stuff to unlock nectars.
Just checked my game - I'm in the 2nd Stratum, and they're available for me. I don't remember what I had to sell to unlock them, though.

Did you invest in any gathering skills perhaps? Specifically Take. I've been keeping up to date with mining and chopping so the items probably don't entirely come from those at least.
My main party has a Survivalist with one point in each gathering skill (so I can always pick up something), and I've got three additional Survivalists (Minerva, Jack, and Oleandra; guess which one is which!) in reserve who've maxxed one of the skills.

I also have three Survivalist gatherers triplets named Gary, Harry, and Larry, but I've spread out their points over only mining and chopping 'cause I didn't really think take sounded important. I guess I'm going to need to grind out a level with em. Thanks though. It's proven remarkably hard to just Google this information.
Love the artwork. Love the oceanic setting. Not that any of that really makes a difference given we're talking about MF'ing ETRAIN ODYSSEY, my favorite reason to own a DS. Or the series I spent two entire summers eating and breathing. Er, playing! I meant playing.

So, question regarding classes; are they simply adding new classes or are they going with a restructure, like taking out the Landsknecht but putting in Pirate - New name and look, but general same function sort of deal?

You're probably sailing from island to island on the ocean on top of and inside of the giant tree.
The Phalanx class looks nice indeed, but I looked at the screenshot and I have my doubts about wide open sea bright sunshine island hopping gameplay..
This looks like a traditional EO level, then there's also this:
And that looks like a sea chart, so maybe it's something like the stratums are different islands.
