They are doing a musical show at the Disney parks to promote this. They take the big paddleboats out to this good viewing point for the regular guests and then sing a bunch of the songs from the movie. I wanted to see the movie already, but hearing the music for it really got me pumped.
We saw this
And the French Quarter was all decked out
It was pretty cool
whats the big deal with the animation style
its pretty cool and all but is it just about some immeasurable extra level of character and depth added to the images

Just got back from it. Honestly, I was misty-eyed as soon as it started, just from getting to have this sort of experience again. Tiana's song at the beginning was probably my favorite, but "When We're Human" and Mama Odie's song were pretty wonderful as well. Probably the only song that didn't completely blow me away was "Gonna Take You There."
Naveen was probably my favorite character, but I liked Tiana quite a bit as well. My only complaint was that I would have preferred Naveen get a whole song to himself.
My mom asked me if there was a particular song that would stand out from the movie like most of the others had. I'm not sure what will be the defining scene from the movie-- the Belle/Beast ballroom dance-type scene. Maybe Tiana's restaurant song?
What really surprised me was
Ray's death. I kept expecting him to just pop right back up, or for Mama Odie to bring him back. It wasn't till the funeral started that I realized what was going to happen. And the wedding loophole hadn't occurred to me until they actually said it.

Then again, we might have been starved of a quality Disney movie for such a long time that we were going to devour anything even halfway decent at this point.

Exactly. It's Disney, acting like Disney instead of squirting man-juice all over live-action garbage marketed towards pre-teens or doing something in 3D. Not that I didn't like Wall-E or Ratatouille, they're great movies that give warm fuzzy feelings. It's just that everybody's happy for something traditional.
I think the last thing they did in traditional animation was like the first 10-15 minutes of Enchanted.

I really enjoyed the songs and the animation was top-notch
but the story was a little too sentimental for my tastes, and I felt like I had barely gotten to know the characters before the movie was over
Still a fantastic film, I'm glad Disney is back in the traditional animation game

What, you didn't like Home on the Range?

I wasn't wild about all the music. It felt less dynamic than most of the other movies. I did really like this one

My favorite song was definitely Almost There, I think that's probably the "Tale as Old as Time" of this movie for me
Hey, that was a pretty good joke you made there.
Randy Quaid made that movie
My friend pointed out afterwards, "You know, could they still understand the alligator after they became human? Because all he did was growl."
Yeah
