Is Francisco Liriano good again? I remember him dominating the Astros when Clemens came back but then he got hurt and missed a whole season later.

You do realize unless Seattle pulls something out of their ass like pitching Lee and Felix every other day it's gonna likely be Yankees/Sox v. Cards/Phillies right

You don't know Cole Hamels very well. He's always been a bit off, which is fine by me as long as he is pitching well.

    My early projected Natinals lineup:

    Nyjer Morgan - CF
    Cristian Guzman - SS
    Ryan Zimmerman - 3B
    Adam Dunn - 1B
    Josh Willingham - LF
    Elijah Dukes - RF
    Pudge Rodriguez - C
    Adam Kennedy - 2B

This only changes slightly if Guzman hasn't come back properly from surgery and or Ian Desmond outshines his old ass in Spring Training.

There's still apparently a chance that Willingham gets traded or Dukes will rob a bank.

My Pirates projected lineup in April:

    Andrew McCutchen - CF
    Andy LaRoche - 3B
    Garret Jones - RF
    Ryan Doumit - C
    Jeff Clement - 1B
    Lastings Milledge - LF
    Akinori Iwamura - 2B
    Ronny Cedeno - SS

    July:

    Andrew McCutchen - CF
    Andy LaRoche - 2B
    Jose Tabata - RF
    Pedro Alvarez - 3B
    Jeff Clement - 1B
    Lastings Milledge - LF

explain please. dlee aint going no where. z is probably getting traded if any [idiots] teams want him. ramirez has to be healthy before they move him.

and jim hendry is still in charge, so i expect all 3 to get a 10 year extension for 400 million dollars total.( the joke is hendry throws money at players who dont deserve it..samardz, soriano, bradley, z)

samardzija is still on a minor league contract, the only thing really wrong with his contract is the no-trade clasue

and lee and ramirez are nearing the ends of their contracts, and I don't know how much the cubs are going to be willing to pay them

That's not a bad lineup, but that do they have anyone who can pitch? That was their main problem last year.

Jason Marquis and a bunch of rookies

    John Lannan
    Jason Marquis
Scott Olson is back from his injury
Miguel Batista has a minor league deal with a shot at the rotation if we don't pick anyone else up.

Craig Stammen and Colin Balestar were both decent last year, but it's been rumored that one or both will move to the bullpen.

We've got Ross Detwiler who never took off as promised, so I'm not really banking on him.

Plus Rizzo says that he is trying to pick up one more starter, with names like Jarrod Washburn and John Smoltz being tossed around.

In the bullpen, where we really needed the help, we picked up Matt Capps and Brian Bruney over the off season and got rid of some of the shitty guys. It looks like Capps will close.

And we've got Drew Storen who has been incredible in the minors so far, and the possibility of Stephen Strasburg being everything he's supposed to be and getting called up late this year.

And a #1 pick in June.

Do you think Rizzo would be silly enough to rush Strasburg?

    In his words:
"...I will go in assuming that Strasburg likely will go to the minor leagues. I think that there's a process you go through to kind of get the respect of your teammates and, you know, kind of the process, if you get acclimated to throwing every fifth day in a ballgame, but doing your work in between, it's good maybe to work those things out during the course of the season. He didn't pitch much last year and then he had a little bit of a setback with the knee, so I think the prudent approach would be to go in with the assumption that he'll be in the minor leagues. If he's just undeniable, if it's just so clear cut that nothing bad can happen if we keep him, I guess we would rethink it. Davey (Johnson) went through it with Dwight Gooden, I went through it with Kerry Wood, and you know, I guess (Tim) Lincecum in San Francisco, there's some other examples, but you know, Lincecum probably dominated at the big league level in Spring Training or somewhere before he stepped into the San Francisco setting, so, we generally are pretty conservative in making that transition..."
