Feasible/Stupid/Insane?
I really like the idea of the game, but I was totally unable to play the second game. I remember trying to invade Panama after 50 years of preparation and then completely dying.

B is correct, although technically A can be correct to depending on context. For instance:
"What has then been the primary cause for the decline in population is now caused by a new virus."
While B is used as :
"What, then, has been the primary cause for the death of this patient?"

I kind of thought about that, but if it was only for a couple of weeks the rental cost would only be about £4-500 for something big enough to be comfortable for motorway driving, plus I wouldn't have to try and buy a car in an unfamiliar city, and I'd have someone to call in the event of breakdown.
Insane. It's going to be expensive and... LONG. Two day trip, at least. Maybe longer depending on how far south in Florida to begin and how far north in Maine you're going. Why would you want to do this?

I was thinking over the course of a couple of weeks, stopping in interesting places. "Doing America" the way that American tourists "do Europe".
Why not? It'll be expensive, but there's worse things to do.
There's some cool places to explore on the east coast.

Expensive but doable. I-95 runs all the way along the coast. Depending on how you want to drive it, you can do it in two or three days. If you wanted to stop along the way, you'd be able to access all of the major coastal cities along the way.
I see, the sentence is very much like the example for B you used here. It's for a medical paper that someone else is translating and I'm supposed to help out a bit. I can't remember the phrase perfectly, but we were having a disagreement on the wording for this and very similar phrases last night.
Oh... well then why the east coast? I would find going across the whole US to be more interesting. Start in Florida go up north a bit, then head west to Cali. I would recommend stop in St. Louis to see the Arch and Las Vegas, cause it's definitely an awesome city. Going up the east coast like that, the only thing I can think of is to stop in DC and Boston. Other than that, not sure where else you'd want to stop.
$50? Depends on how crappy/how much you enjoy getting shot.
Depends on where and the season. It's been a while but somewhere in the range of $50 to $100 a night.
You can easily find hotels for 40 dollars a night.

Also depends on how close to a city you are- and what city. The further out, the cheaper, generally. Things tend to be cheaper in the South (excluding Southern Florida). $50 is a good estimate but, like Syphon said, it also depends on how crappy.
I'd say $50-$100 just depending on all factors.
