    Yep, can't go bigger than plus/minus 12.

However, if your skill is lower than 1 now, you don't roll. You auto-fail.

Why is this important, you ask?

Because it means if you have a total reaction bot, and you have an MSV trooper in smoke firing from cover outside of 32" it auto-misses (-6 for the smoke, -3 for range, -3 for cover)

    And what does this mean?

It means that careful deployment of an Intruder Sniper and Jaguar can delete Aleph reactionbots off the board with no fear of retaliation

As my opponent found out to his cost a few days ago!

Yeah it's -12 which is pretty reasonable I think.

It's also great when it comes to suppression fire line troopers

Spektr in marker state attacks from cover, auto-miss for you my little suppression firing laddy

  • Options
    AsherAsher Registered User regular
Spektrs with Boarding shotguns are all manner of deadly. Infact TO guys with Boarding shotguns are really nasty.

On a slightly different note, I've been painting my Iguana, so want to take it to Cancon. I've been thinking about lists

    Iggy Pop
    Lupe Balboa
    Alguacile Hacker
    Alguacile FO
    Alguacile LT
    Alguacile

And then options! I was thinking of either:

Bandit FO (ADHL and Light shotgun)
    Transductor
    Jaguar Chain Rifle
    Jaguar Panzerfaust ADHL

    OR

    Bandit FO
    Moran Maasi Boarding Shotgun
    Janguar Chain Rifle Smoke Grenades

to finish the rest of the list off. Or maybe something I haven't thought of. Any ideas guys?

    Not wanting to take Intruders?

  • Options
    AsherAsher Registered User regular
Not so much don't want as can't afford. If I take intruder, then I've got 11 points left that I spend on a a jaguar I guess.

200 is super tight and I think I value board control more at that level, especially to slow down things that could get to iggy and the stooges

I put models on Instagram now: asher_paints
  • Options
    SolarSolar Registered User regular
Well I think that Moran's are great and so I prefer the second choice. One less order but you get the koalas and I don't think the Transducer brings a whole bunch anyway. Solid list, though, either way. I always take Intruders but if you don't want them then that's fair enough.

About dismounts for bikers - is it really necessary outside of specialists? I get that specialists might want to dismount to get somewhere their bike can't get to, but for regular bikers are dismounts really needed? My experience with Kum riders is they will probably simply die and have little need to dismount voluntarily.

I've been trying to figure out how to do dismounts for my Kum and while I've come to some solutions, they're fairly expensive (sourcing multiple dismounted Kasyms to cut in half and replace the upper body with the normal bikers). If I don't need to do this, I'll be much happier.

I'd say most of the time you won't need to and won't care.

Have a few basic dudes around to represent them and that should be fine really

  • Options
-Loki--Loki- Don't pee in my mouth and tell me it's raining. Registered User regular
I'll play a few more games with them to see what happens, but from the games I've had so far Kum usually die in a blaze of glory fairly quickly. Good to know that's the norm.

  • Options

They like combined orders a lot I think

move then drop smoke, or fire smoke, or shoot a chain rifle

then four of them only generate one ARO, and they all have the same training so that's no problem

And if one gets nailed, well, they're dogged!

Games are always good! How did it go down?

I ran my Iguana the other day to see just how badly TAGs have been nerfed and I was seriously disappointed! All it did was put my opponent in LoL first turn, putting him on the back foot for the entire game! I guess it also shot at a bunch of things with its HMG and forced them into cover allowing my link team to take the objectives winning me the game, but it only killed 80ish points of models!

So yeah some heavy sarcasm going on here. That was only the second time I've run Iggy and he did pretty ok.

TAGs haven't been nerfed, but they've been put into a different role. The people that think they've been nerfed seem to be stubbornly trying to use them like they did in N2.

They're definitely more fire support than rambo now. They're still deadly, but you do need to support them well.

Yeah so did the Guijia. Only the Squalo and the Lizard kept it. It also got its range bandings "nerfed". It now doesn't have a +3 banding. But hey, shadow zones no longer exist so there is basically no hiding from it.

    I am reading it now

It's mostly what you might expect, small points changes and such

Biggest thing I have noted so far is the Azra'Il going to ARM and S 5 so it'll probably be a Sogarat style HI with a resculpt

Also Rasail are LI with three effective wounds, Nanoscreen and a synchronised 6-4 HFT Chaksa with Mimetism

    They are a bit good!

    Here's the official link.

You can get it on your phone but you need the Mega app.

    Here's a mirror someone hosted.

Mostly it's just points adjustments. There's a few interesting bits. Heavy Rocket Launchers have dropped a fucking massive 12pts.

From what I can see everything has dropped in points at least a little. Looks like Haqqislam can pretty comfortably do two combat groups with some decent units in each. I don't mind that at all. Means the factions that are meant to be a bit more hordey like Ariadna and Haqqislam can get more combat models in, and the factions that are meant to have more toys like Pan Oceania or Aleph can fit more toys in. They too can go for multiple combat groups but they'll be cutting down the amount of toys they get.

Azra'il didn't just jump up in ARM, they had a massive overhaul. They've lost the AP Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Panzerfaust toolkit profile (which was utterly fantastic and could take on anything), and it's been replaced by a HMG profile. The Fauerbach profile picked up an X-Visor. They lost 2pts in CC but gained 2pts in ARM and jumped to S5, like the Sogorat. Seems they want them to be Haqqislams big, tough fire support HI.

AD troops have mostly lost HMGs? Could've fooled me, the Garuda still has that. :D

Let's see how the rest of ALEPH is:
    • Dakini Tactbot: Most of them are a point cheaper. The MULTI Sniper one is 6 points cheaper, the Paramedic is two points cheaper. They gained 2 PH, putting them at 10.
    • GARUDA: Kept the HMG option. The HMG and Boarding Shotgun variants got one point more expensive.
    • DEVA Functionaries: Hacker is cheaper by about five points. Sensor is cheaper by two, MSV is more expensive, LT is more expensive.
    • ASURAs are cheaper across the board and have 2 more CC. MULTI RIfle one now costs 68 points, Spitfire is 70, Hacker is 72.
    • The MARUT is cheaper across the board. Both variants now have just a Heavy Flamethrower instead of an HMG for the non-LT. The regular one dropped by 10 points and the LT by 2 points.
    • Nagas gained Multiterrain, became cheaper across the board though the basic one is now a point more. The Hacker has an Assault Hacking Device.
    • Dasyus also gained Multiterrain. The Sniper Rifle and Hacker (Now Assault Hacking Device) are decently cheaper and the LT, and FO gained Antipersonnel mines. The Boarding Shotgun is cheaper by a point while the LT and standard are the same.
    • Myrmidons got a substantial CC boost (21!!!) and gained Kinematika L1, but got cut down to AVA 5 in standard ALEPH (Not sure about ASS). Most variants are a point or two cheaper, with the Hacker being cheaper by about five points and having an Assault Hacking Device, specifically.
    • Sophotects are unchanged.
    • DALETH has a better PH (10!), gained "Sniffer" as a weapon, and now has new abilities: Deactivator and Sat-Lock.
    • ZAYIN Total Reaction drone now only has an HMG option with no bells and whistles, is a point cheaper.
    • SAMEKH has a "Smart Missile Launcher" rather than a guided missile one. Not sure what the difference is. 16 points cheaper! Holy shit!
    • LAMEDH costs the same, gained Flash Pulse and Sniffer.
    • Yudbots gained 2 PH. Cost the same.
    • Netrods are exactly the same.
    • Probots are unchanged.
    • Posthuman Mk1's basic version has a standard hacking device and is now 18 points. The other two are unchanged.
    • Posthuman Mk2 are cheaper by 5 points on both counts.
    • Posthuman Mk3 is cheaper by 4 points.
    • Thorakitai are decently cheaper, with only two of them being 20 points or more (Spitfire and Engineer). Yes, the Light Rocket Launcher dude is now 18 points.
    • Myrmidon Officers aren't much cheaper, but gained CC 22, Fireteam: Enomotarchos, and Kinematika L1.
    • Agema Marksmen did not get Marksmanship. :( But the Sniper is cheaper by like 6 points, the MK12 one is more expensive by one, and the Missile Launcher got a whopping 11 point drop.
    • Ekdromoi got a somewhat smallish point drop across the board, kept their HMG option. I think the HMG Ekdromos is the only super-jumping HMG user left in the game with the ousting of the Exrah line!
    • Nesaie Alke got a 1 CC boost, replaced her knife with a CCW, AND costs a point less.
    • Atalanta costs 5 points less and her spotbot lost that weird 2-point "bonus" cost.
    • Diomedes gained a point of CC and costs a point less.
    • George Clooney, I mean, Machaon, gained a bunch of CC, Fireteam Enomotarchos, Kinematika L1, and an Assault Pistol. Costs a point less.
    • Phoenix gained the same package as George Clooney, costs a whopping 9 points less.
    • Eudoros costs the same, gained the same package as the above two sans the Assault Pistol.
    • Ajax THE GREAT is now CC 22, gained Fireteam Enomotarchos, Kinematika L2, an AP Heavy Pistol, and costs about 4 points less.
    • Penthesilea is CC 22 now and gains Kinematika L2 while on her bike, loses it dismounted. Costs a couple points less.
    • Thamyris gained a CC and costs 4 points less.
    • Achilles LOST the Heavy Shotgun profile. I guess it must've been too broken considering how strong they are now. His CC is now a ridiculous 24. Lost a point of PH. ANOTHER point of Arm. At least he now has Kinematika L2 and costs between 5 points less (Spitfire) or 7 points less (MULTI Rifle).
    • Patroclus also lost the Heavy Shotgun. Is now CC 21, gained Kinematika L1 and Fireteam Enomotarchos. The MULTI RIfle version costs 5 points less while the Spitfire one is only 2 points cheaper.

A few do like Garudas and Gao Tarsos. The majority has them replaced with Spitfires, which are admittedly better weapons for AD units. Better at mid range which is where they will likely end up.

Looking more into the Azra'il, it's a good change in direction. The problem with Haqqislam heavy infantry is aside from the Asawira, they were not particularly different.

Asawira were light powered armoured super soldiers with Regeneration.
Jannisarys were heavier but completely no frills aside from Religious.
Ahl Fassed were practically the same as Jannisarys but without Religious and a Boarding Shotgun profile.
Azra'il were weird in that their fluff said they wore old, heavy powered armour and used long ranged heavy weapons, but had profiles with a bunch of short ranged weapons or a medium ranged weapon, had low ARM like Asawira and the models looked more like medium infantry.

Asawira remain the light power armoured super soldiers, though Regeneration got kicked in the balls.
Jannisarys remain the no frills, slightly heavier Religious heavy infantry.
Ahl Fassed are weirdly missing completely, but are still in the Haqqislam Generic army list.

Azra'il needed the do-over. Their fluff, models and profiles were all completely at odds with each other, and they really just seemed like an up-gunned, slightly lighter Jannisary. The new profiles and equipment screams long ranged firepower and old, bulky power armour. They're now the badass with the big fucking gun standing in the middle of the board blowing opponents to pieces, just like the Sogorat for Morats. I cannot wait to see the new models, and hope for something like the Sogorat Fauerbach in terms of pose and simply looking as intimidating as possible.

Human Sphere (and onward) stuff for Ariadna:
    • Volunteers and Metros are the same with a point or so shaved here and there.
    • Loup Garous, the same, albeit a couple things are a point or two less.
    • Highlander Caterans gained a little bit of CC and cost significantly cheaper: 21 and 20, respectively.
    • Zouaves are quite a bit cheaper, with the HMG and Sniper RIfle ones costing 30 and 25 points respectively, while the rest don't go higher than 22.
    • Highlander Grey Rifles gained "Not Hackable" as per the new way Ariadnan HI is treated now. Everything else is the same... they cost quite a bit less. The AP HMG one now costs 34 points, and along with the T2 RIfle one (33), is the most expensive one by far. The rest are 25 and 29 points.
    • Mormaers now have more armor than Achilles (lol), and cost either 32 points or 42 points. Not quite the "Poor Man's" Vet Kazak anymore considering how much cheaper those got. A decent, tankier alternative.
    • Chasseurs gained Multiterrain and cost the same, aside from the AP Sniper Rifle one (Now costs 26!). The Forward Observer is now 2 points cheaper.
    • Wulvers are now CC 21 and gained Kinematika L1. The Mk12 one is only a point cheaper, though the other two are 4 and 5 points cheaper. Yes, they kept the Heavy Shotgun while Achilles and Patroclus lost theirs. Suck it, ALEPH.
    • Cameronians are a point cheaper, and include a clearly written stipulation about them being part of the same AVA as Dog Warriors.
    • Emergency Service 112 now has a Medikit in addition to Doctor. Nothing else changed.
    • Dozers are much cheaper, weighing in at 13, 14, and 14 points for their three profiles.
    • Traktor Muls got a significant point reduction. Katyusha is 11 opints, Uragan is 18 points. It gained a point of PH and now has 4-4 movement.
    • Mirage Team 5 now must be taken together, though there is no more stipulation about them coming in at the same turn, though they must be in the same Combat Group. They are now 69 points and 2 SWC together. Cheaper than taking both beforehand. They are the same, otherwise.
    • William Wallace gained Kinematika L1 and is now 3 points cheaper. LT option is still only available for Caledonian Highlanders.
    • Briscards are cheaper. The HRL one is a hell of a lot cheaper.
    • Scots Guards are similar, with the Missile Launcher one being a lot cheaper.
    • Jean Reno- I mean Jacques Bruant, actually got more expensive. Considering the Spitfire now has a deadzone, I wonder how the Molotok changed. He can now be in a Metros fireteam, except for his Inferior Infiltration version.
    • Uxia Mcneil gained Kinematika L1and Multiterrain. 1st option costs the same, 2nd option costs 2 points more.
    • Not even getting into the Dire Foes/Others ones. I don't have their old profiles.

I thought the current Azra'il models were pretty cool. They were pretty much Master Chief.

Dire Foes seem to have largely stayed the same, for better or worse. They were planning for N3 with them. The most I'd expect are points changes.

Good examples are Bipandra in N2 being a Doctor with a Medkit. In N2 Medkits were what let Paramedics revive models in base to base contact. Doctors now can use them to make a Paramedic roll at 8", or use their Doctor roll in base to base. Yasbir had both a Viral CCW and a Knife. The knife was completely redundant.

Both models paid for their redundant options in N2. Now they have a use. The only changes were Yasbirs profiles dropped 1pt each, Bipandra stayed exactly the same.
