Ah thats a really good point. Can command tokens be used to reroll? Or did I make that up?

  • LanlaornLanlaorn Registered User regular
You can spend a command token to reroll the failed check on a Ghost presence TAG, so that makes it much better.

Are there any stipulations on how to base the Meteor Zond

I'm not planning on using the clear base, but I want to trim down the stand so it's not quite as high above the ground, would that be kosher since everything uses the silhouettes for LOS in N3

  • -Loki--Loki- Don't pee in my mouth and tell me it's raining. Registered User regular
Yeah, because of the silhouette mechanic, it really doesn't matter anymore. You could base a sniper on a huge rock and giggle because you think it gives him beter chance to draw LoS over stuff, but his silhouette says otherwise.

Same with the Zonds. Base them how you want, the silhouette says how big they are.

Jannisary box is interesting. New profile - HRL, which is also a female HI, which is pretty rare. A doctor model, which just hasn't been done since the Ghulam. We've had to proxy Doctors from Rifle or Shotgun models. Boarding shotgun, which I'm not sure was a profile either, but I might be mistaken. And a Tinbot model, which is also just a token in effect - in fact, their official partner MAS already makes a tinbot token.

Add to that the design has changed again from the HMG model just released, if you care about that. Shoulder armour got bulkier, as did the leg armour.

What sets did you order from Systema, Prime, if you don't mind me asking?

    Not at all:

    Item: FCB-One Bundle

    Item: FCB-One Ground Floor
    Quantity: 3

Item: Holo Banners (English, Laser Orange)

    Item: Enclosed Garden

    Item: FCB Bridge (stairs)
    Quantity: 2

    Item: FCB Bridge (flat)
    Quantity: 2

    Item: Circular Planters
    Quantity: 2

I think to expand on this I'll need 1 or 2 more ground floor, 1 or 2 middle floors, 2 more of each bridge and another garden maybe. That should be enough for a 4x4.

I did a practice game last night and this is what it looks like on a 4 x 3 (two op: icestorm mats side by side)
    8YAQUk4.jpg

Bought the plants for all the planters and gardens yesterday so will get them painted up over the weekend hopefully.

Oh man yeah she was a pain! In the end I made my own micro pins by shaving down a staple and bought a 0.3mm drill bit. Pinning was the only way it stayed on.

This is unfortunately true. While they've made strides with this by using guide pegs and such, Infinity minis are absolutely a pain in the ass to build, mostly if you've got arms that need to meet somewhere.

If you're not pinning, try scoring each joining surface with a knife before glueing.

But really, pin them. Pinning is a pita but it saves a lot of trouble down the road

It's an army box, including terrain and tokens by the looks of it. I'd prefer Kazaks, but it's pretty tempting.

I noticed my local store apparently has this as their daily event once a week, so I think I am going to go and check it out. I was looking at the army builder trying to decide what I would likely want to play if I did get involved. I typically prefer playing smaller unit count elite troops, and am a fan of mecha. So I was looking at the panOc and their TAG's.

Should I be trying to get to at least 10 units no matter what I am doing with my TAG's, for the extra orders?
    ie;
    2 squalo
    1 orc lt+hmg
    7 combi fusilier's

Or can I go for something with only like 5 units in it?
    1 Squalo Lt
    1 Squalo HGL
    2 Orc Multi
    1 Hexa Sniper

I think you're falling into the same kind of trap that a lot of new converts to infinity do. Infinity doesn't really encourage unit span and, as heart breaking as it is, taking more than 1 TAG is such a heavily skewed list I wouldn't recommend it for a novice player. The PanO starter is actually a really good starting point and is a good example of how you will want to construct a force.

In general, Infinity forces should try to be as flexible as possible. They need specialists like hackers or Forward Observers to take objectives. They need a couple of big bruisers like TAGs and HI to take the fight to the enemy. They need to have a couple of models like snipers or Total Reaction Drones providing covering fire. They need a way of dealing with camo troops, like Visors, or mines and then having some nasty suprises of their own, like Airborn troops or camo all the while trying to get as close to 10 models as possible.

This list takes the starter box and adds a Squalo and a Hexa. It has some camo, a Visor, some order monkeys and a couple of big bruisers. The Hexa and Nisse can also operate in an ARO capacity. What it lacks is specialists. You won't need them if you're just playing annihilation games to start with, but you could add a hacker and a forward observer or 2 instead of the hexa.

I'll keep messing with it after I get a chance to see how it plays, but something more like this. The warcor is basically because I had 3 points left, and didn't see anything else to spend it on.

That's a bit heavy on the 'good' models. Really needs a few 'cheerleaders' (basic grunts who you'll unlikely activate to do anything) to provide some orders.

Something to remember with Infinity is you generally have 2 kinds of models. Order givers and order takers. Order givers are things like combi rifle armed Fusiliers. They're not fantastic, but guarding your deployment zone is important, and these guys waiting to provide some ARO's is a good idea. Their orders go into the order pool for others to use. Another good idea is, when possible, spend the point to upgrade them to Forward Observers for some backup objective runners. Sometimes your main objective runners will be in a bad position to move out and do things.

Order takers are specialists and killy units, who use them for different reasons. Specialists will be weaving through cover to get to an objective, so extra orders will be spent on movement and interacting with the objective. Killy units will use them to get into position and kill things, so extra orders spent on movement and shooting.

The issue with your list is you've got a lot of order takers (the Aquila, Squalo and Crocmen), and your order givers are very expensive (Nisses, who will likely be ARO peices). I'd recomment dropping one Nisse and the Warcor, and grabbing 3 combi Fusiliers and using them as Forward Observers. While this will leave you at 4.5 SWC spent, it will increase the amount you're guys can accomplish by having a bigger order pool with some backup specialists. Also the Fusiliers will have Deployable Repeaters, which will come in handy with your Assault Hacker (have them drop repeaters around the map, and the hacker can hack targets that move within 8" of them in ARO).

Combi Rifle cheerleaders are about the only unit in the game you'll really find yourself 'spamming', and even then, 3 is the upper limit.
