All over those guys. The previous models were pretty anaemic. These ones actually look like they can tear a TAG apart.

Operation Icestorm has been detailed. Pack is a limited run of 5000, which, depending on sales, might get future runs (CB probably don't want a stockpile of PanO and Nomad starters lying around from unsold Icestorm boxes).
Pre orders get the Corporate Security Unit mercenary.
All boxes get the Father Knight and Reverend healer, but those 2 models are exclusive to Icestorm. you won't get to buy them separately.
thats the contents of the starter box ? like Isle of blood etc for warhammer ? just curiuos that seems like a metric truckload of modesl for a game like infinity.

It's seven models per side. That's about what I'd expect from a skirmish starter.
I'm interested in dabbling in Infinity. Roughly how much more terrain would I need for a typical game than what will be coming in the starter box?
The starter box comes with enough terrain!
It comes with 4 buildings, each the size of one of their miniature boxes. They designed them like this so you could slip an empty miniature box inside for extra rigidity. It also comes with 6 shipping containers. A are cardstock, flat packed. it also comes with a game mat, though it's basically just poster material, and looks to be about 3'x4'. The only terrain I'd consider adding to that is some waist high barricades for partial cover, which are plenty easy to scratch build.
As below, this is the entire contents.
There's a misconception with Infinity that the game should be so dense you're constantly leaping over barricades and such. Corvus Belli recommend enough terrain so that there's no more than 8" between any two peices of terrain, be they full buildings to small barricades for partial cover. You want a mix of line of sight blocking terrain and partial terrain. If you're finding that you don't get many opportunities to shoot, you've got too much. If you're finding that models are dying too fast, you don't have enough. It's really a personal thing. I like more terrain, but not so much that it's safe to move everywhere. People should be getting shot if they carelessly take a route that takes them in front of enemies.
Another point that Corvus Belli have made is get the table layout asymmetrical. Give one deployment zone more cover, or a sniper nest. Make intentional fire lanes down the table (though not too many), but with side accesses and ways to get around if you're clever. Make objective areas safe from some directions, but not all directions. This makes the decision from the roll off harder - do you choose initiative, so you can choose to go first or second, or do you choose deployment so you can control who deploys where, and hand initiative to your opponent.
I pre-ordered mine today. It's a pretty good deal, the models alone are worth the cost but you get plenty of other stuff too.

Mostly due to how good Operation Icestorm is, and watching how the company in general handles their product, I've slightly put Infinity on my watch list. I plan to do a lot more with Warmachine first - one miniatures project at a time and all that - but I'm still very interested in this game after their work towards 3rd Edition.

That looks like a really good starter set, especially with the inclusion of terrain.
I think my favorite part of it is that in throwing in some terrain, it gives those of us who want to try making our own a sort of guideline for how they envision the terrain looking in-world. Sure, you can do whatever you want but it's nice to have an aesthetic guideline.
it reminds me of Necromunda, it was a great set to get into skirmish gaming and came with a pile of terrain and a ton of models. Loved that starter set.

Anyone else have an enormously hard time assembling their Infinity minis? I ended up having to green stuff the joints on my Daturazi Witch Soldiers (who also have a fair number of gaps, which I'm not sure is a result of the green stuff or the mold). Same with my Anathematics (sans gaps). My Suryats and Raicho showed up today and I figured I'd ask if anyone has an secrets to assembly.
Still trying to figure out a good color scheme, too.
I never have any problems with gaps but they can be quite fiddly
It's been said that if you aren't going to make minis designed to be poseable, make the joins a natural lock
Recently bought myself a load of Neoterra Bolts and they have square joint connectors which leave no room for doubt when it comes to how they go together and it makes assembly loads easier. Same with all the other new released I have got of late (Ariadna Scout, Spetznaz, Agema Marksman etc). So yeah, I think they are aware of the fiddlyness and are moving to sort it out.
In regards to the gaps on my Witch Soldiers, I'd be willing to say it's probably just as much me using too much green stuff in the joints as it is the models themselves. I used muuuuch much less on the Anathematics and there aren't any gaps on that model at all.
Maybe my glue's gone bad or something? Does that happen?

I used to get gaps in models joins, but only once since they moved to digital sculpting, which was a TAG.
I'd recommend going over the join areas thoroughly before gluing. I've noticed when dry fitting even the smallest mold line or pipe scar can really throw off joins on Infinity models.

I'm not sure I've never had a bottle of glue go bad, per say, but I have had a bottle that was awful from the start. I used that bottle of GF9 for a long time before I realized that no, I wasn't just getting less steady and patient in my old age, the glue was just hot garbage.

Same. The tube of super glue I had before this one was useless after the first week. But this one (exact same brand) has been going perfectly for 4 months.
Impressed you can keep your superglue going for 4 months :P I usually buy a new bottle every time I buy new minis to assemble. I really dig this starter but I have no one to play with and im not sure im interested in eitehr factions. I love me some morats though and would love to get into infinty thinking of heading to my lgs and see if anyone plays morats so i could get some test games in.

So they're selling the starter set comboed with two gencon models.
Unfortunately their webstore is goosetastic when it comes to accepting my CC#. Anyone have any suggestions?
Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!
I had a ton of problems with their webstore and my CC. It may actually be your CC company declining it, since they're in Spain. My girlfriend eventually got it to work on her CC, but I don't know how she pulled that off.
I'd say neither is "better", but you'll consistantly get more mileage out of the Flamer. The HGL can be a game winner on the right terrain as it lets you speculativly fire and bomb the hell out of whatever you want pretty accurately if you can get the angle. However, that's a lots of ifs and buts. Heavy Flamer is more consistently useful. It's good vs Camo, Link teams, CC things trying to engage your TAG and more.

The problem with the HGL is if your opponent figures out you're using it, they can deploy and move in buildings shadow zones and you won't be able to target them. It's basically a gun that will hammer the shit out of an unprepared opponent, but have little use against a prepared opponent.
They don't even have to figure out out before deployment. It's normal to deploy in building shadow zones in an effort to maximise total cover in the first turn. If they see the Raicho hang back on your first turn, they will expect it and stick to shadow zones. If it moves forward aggressively, they'll expect the heavy flame thrower.
There's a bit of mind gaming with the gun on both sides, but most will probably err on the side of caution and just stick to the shadows. On a dense board it's not hard.

Does the Raicho even come with different guns? In my (limited) experience, TAGs, like normal infantry outside of a few very special exceptions, just come with one gun.
I wouldn't worry. Infinity players in general really don't go for WYSIWIG. In fact, it's often not even possible due to stuff not having models. Just give it whatever gun you think looks the most badass, and run it how you want. Even if someone noticed, I doubt they'd care enough to not give you a game.
Yeah, it did. I was surprised, too. And I don't really care what other players would think, but I think it would be kind of cool to be able to swap them out.
Me and @Chrysis tried some Infinity today. Nothing special, just pushing some basic dudes around to figure out how the game works, but it was fun and I'm pretty pumped to finally start working on that Aleph starter set @Asher got me like a million years ago.
Something I learned pretty quickly was not to get into a long range shooting match with this guy:
My guys were unpainted and unassembled but Chrysis' Ariadna looked boss as hell and he should definitely post some nice pics of them ASAP

Tank hunter Autocannon is Ariadnas go to for anything. Need to hack a TAG? Just Autocannon it. Need to stop a specialist getting to an objective? Blow him to bits with an Autocannon. That civvie you think might be your opponents objective? I'm thinking Autocannon.
Autocannon does have weaknesses! Notably drop troops, who can hunt them down after you use disposable stuff to flush out the bastard, and troops with MSV that can see through that Camo. Plus the Autocannon itself has a low burst and a link team that get eyes on it can often seriously challenge it in the face to face.
Tankhunters can be pretty devastating. As Solar pointed out they do have some vulnerabilities. Your Asuras can shoot at him without even having to discover because of their MSV3s Funnily enough, I'm just starting Aleph!

Is it a terrible idea to buy two starter sets from the same faction? I was already on board with the NCA Morat starter, but then ... this.
I still won't be picking up Infinity stuff for a while, so this will likely be out by the time that I do. Just curious if I'd be smart to pick and choose between them.
