Matt Smith is quite possibly the worst choice ever for Doctor Who.

Yeah they should have gone with a real actor like Paul Walker.

Okay, so I decided recently to figure out all this Doctor Who hubbub... am I the only person that finds it to be... less than awesome?

let me back this question up

i want to start trying to figure out this Doctor Who thing

    where do I start watching?

Also he still sorta looks like a british edward cullen, especially in that OP picture

I'd start with the revamp of the series honestly.

    Which is free on Netflix!

It's purposely cliched and cheesey. Pretty much the comfort food of television. But oh so enjoyable if you keep up with it.

If that woman's cleavedge made one more person pick the game up off the shelf, it was a net positive for microprose. And to be blunt, if taking her top off could have increased sales enough to get a sequel, I'd endorse it 100000% because I like playing great games.

I actually got to see Spirit of the West live in Vancouver. They did an annual concert for St. Patrick's Day.

my favorite song by them is Mists of Crofton

As my sig hints, I'm fond of Political. And Good-bye Grace.

    See, yeah...

I've seen the original... I like the original...

I started at what Netflix calls "Season One" of what was obviously the new series (from early 2000s?)

    It was awful.

You were probably taking it seriously.

I don't know anything about Matt Smith.

Or even Eccleston, even. Or Tenant.

I just liked watching Eccleston as Who better than I did Tenant.

Yes, this is where I started.

Awful. I watched about four episodes.

    It gets better?

By the light of the moon, she'd drift through the streets
A rare old perfume, so seductive and sweet
She'd tease us and flirt, as the pubs all closed down

The gas heater's empty, it's damp as a tomb
The spirits we drank now ghosts in the room

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month
I've been drunk since I left

    Take me home....

The secret to watching Doctor Who is to drink until it's enjoyable.

So, IMHO, Helena Bonham Carter would have been the perfect doctor and she'd be female to boot, which would be an interesting twist on the mythos.

However, another person who would have made an awesome doctor:

Yes. To be fair to them they were trying to continue a story with a ton of seasons under its belt. It took them a while to find their groove. And while Eccleston was definitely the better actor, Tennant got the better stories in the next season.

She would be a great choice if it weren't for the fact that she's Helena Bonham Carter.

I mean Doctor Who is kind of a cultural touchstone for Brits, but American Doctor Who fans were kind of like the dudes that hardcore dorks would make fun of to feel better about themselves.
