I wish Bioware hire some Korean to improve their 3D models.
Make it at least half as good as Aion.
During my first run through the game I think Alistar spent about as much time suspended in a bubble as he did fighting mans.
This was necessary because I had no idea what the fuck I was doing with gear and stat choices.
I know it features real-time combat with pause, like the previously mentioned bioware titles, but what can I expect to be different from a gameplay perspective? Of those previously played bioware titles, ME2 had my favorite iteration of combat gameplay.
I'm no stranger to a fantasy story setting, and I love bioware games, so I really want to give this a shot, I just don't what to go in there expecting ME2 gameplay, and being rudely surprised when it's different.
DA:O is really really not like ME2.
There's much more micro-management needed in levelling, combat, equipment and so forth. A lot more like KOTOR.
Edited to add: That said, the characters and dialogue alone make the game worth at least one playthrough!
That said, the story and characters are beautifully crafted.
I'm pretty sure he wants to preserve the art style/direction, just make the game prettier. It'd be nice if they had more than three basic models for the mage armour, too.
I tend to find Allistair tanking with me and Leilana DPS'ing and Wynne or Morrigan healing / crowed controlling works just fine.
Well each special class only has 4 abilities, so there are lots more points than that.
But Blood Mage by itself is not the best damage, it just has that one broken spell at the top of the tier that does a huge AoE hold, which also damages those in the hold, and it's sick. As broken as it may be, though, picking other spells will be vitally important to you getting along in the game... not to mention using one spell over and over is boring.
Mages are stupidly powerful in this game, but they are also quite fun because of the diversity of magic to be had. Truthfully, as powerful as the Blood Mage spec is, there are other, even more broken spells than that (Storm of the Century comes to mind).
When I played a Blood Mage, I really started to feel like my other three party members were just there to witness my awesometude rather than to do anything useful on the battlefield.
Because that's some serious bullshit. Scattershot! slice-slice-slice Scattershot! *reload*
HI 5!
On a console. The PC version requires at least some micro, unless you like reloading saves every other fight.

I beat Nightmare barely switching characters (though I did use the pause), so I'm sure you could manage Normal on the PC like that. Regardless of the amount of "lol, console".
At higher levels that encounter is nothing, but the first time I ran into it was when I'd done the Dalish treaty, on my first playthrough, which was the first treaty I'd done. So my characters were level 7-ish.
Yeah, a middle finger is the least that encounter deserves at that level. Fuck.
I'd just like to take the time to say that I ended up abusing Paralysis Explosion so much during my first playthrough.
(Thank you, Wynne!)
Something like mage haste is fine though, and flame enchanted weapons make for nice lighting effects.
The Flaming Weapons sustain makes it look like they're trying to tell spooky stories, holding an orange light under their face while talking.
I had the beginning of the Heal spell stuck on my guy for an entire zone because a cutscene started mid cast and it never went away afterwords. I looked pretty epic with all the misty sparkly stuff around me as I walked around.
Wynne petrified, not so much.
The other thing I did right after re-installed was to run the patch 1.03. I noticed a change in the level up screen. It looks exactly like the 360 version. Is that something they did in the patches? I hadn't patched since the first and it's throwing me off a bit.
I CAN SEE THROUGH MY EYEBALLS.

... turns out you were supposed to meet her in Lothering I guess? Now its a big skull and crossbones on my map. Apparently Its been blighted now or something so I can't get there. Am I SoL on this one?
As a rogue, you should be using momentum.
Mages who use Frost Weapons could be said to be frigid about the prospect.
Mages who use Haste only confirm Morrigan's statement that it won't take long.
I will stop now and cut off all my fingers so that this may never happen again.

You left out an important part.
Thanks for the clarification guys. Does that mean, outside of a homosexual affair with Alistair my only chances for love are with that sour wench Morrigan?
