It's clearly supposed to be political satire instead of a true historical recreation. The plasma TV is a symbol of the consumer goods that arose from the out of control military spending of the 80s and the lack of pogo-ball shows the spiritual deprivation people were facing because of the, you know, thing with the thing

Outside of Dethklok, I never really got into this kind of vocalist. The "ruining your vocal chords for money" style of 'singing' just doesn't appeal to me.
Aside from the generic metal guitar guy, though, I rather enjoyed the rest of the instrumentation.
