I don't know if this should be here or in G&T, but I'll try here first.
Problem: My friends never know when I'm online. It's like when you set yourself to invisible on AIM (do people still use that?). I did check my account settings, and the box that says "Show as Online" is quite clearly marked. Still... no one can see me. Or invite me. Or... well, anything.
