FYI - I just pulled the trigger on my BYOC registration (quite happy about that!). Once that was done, I immediately tried to register my girlfriend, and apparently they're now sold out...

According to the list there is still about 50 seats, so I would try again, since she won't be able to be in the BYOC with you unless she is also registered.

I replied to you on twitter as well. There are 49 tickets left so you should be able to get a seat no problem.

Hm. The site is still showing "The ticket you have selected is sold out." when you click Continue Registration. I submitted a support ticket, just in case.

I created a public Steam group for the BYOC.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/PAXEastBYOC

I figure if we join the group, it's easier to add PAX BYOC'ers to your Steam Friends list, and get games put together.

FYI: Barcodes will be emailed to you guys on the 22nd when BYOC Reg gets closed. This typically has gone out sooner since BYOC has always sold out, but first year at east and all...

anyway YOU NEED TO PRINT THIS OUT AND BRING IT WITH YOU TO PAX WHEN YOU CHECK INTO BYOC!

There will be a small desk near the security desk (or at the security desk if you arent getting there before opening on friday) where you turn this in ALONG WITH PHOTO ID to get your Orange BYOC badge that lets you into the BYOC room.

So this probably isnt going out until the 22nd when BYOC Reg gets closed, but I got permission to post it here now for general info purposes. I was told It *might* change slightly by the time it gets emailed to you guys but it will be 99% the same.

BYOC PAX EAST INFO EMAIL
CONGRATULATIONS!
This is your introductory email to PAX East BYOC. In less than two weeks you will take part in history, the first ever PAX East Geforce Lan sponsored by Intel and Nvidia. This is our first year in Boston and we are excited to bring our celebration of games and gaming culture to the Hynes Convention Center. We have a lot of BIG NEWS for Boston this year, and with the help of Nvidia, Intel and a few other generous sponsors we hope to make it the best PAX yet. For General information regarding BYOC, Check out our LAN page located at http://www.geforcelan.com/

If you've never been to a LAN party here's a quick note on what to bring-
BYOC email from Nvidia or Intel complete with barcode
Government Issued photo ID
3 Day PAX Pass
Your Kick Ass Computer
Monitor (Please no bigger than 24" LCD )
Keyboard
Mouse (Wired mice and keyboards are recommended for lan parties)
Mouse pad
Ethernet cable (25 feet should be sufficient, but it's better to have
longer than shorter).
Power cables
Headphones
Games CDs/DVDs, Windows CD, and backups for other programs you may
need to install/reinstall.

If you are looking for any LAN party essentials visit http://boslan.org, you can order supplies and pick them up at the admin table at the expo, this wonderful service is provided by our friends over at Lpane (http://noreaster.lpane.net/)

Please Remember you have 2 Power plugs, No OUTSIDE SURGE PROTECTORS ALLOWED(This is in caps because we have to enforce it).

Just like most LAN parties we do have an internet connection, this connection is meant for GAMES, so do us all a favor and get your Steam updates, Patches and any other Interwebz downloads from your home connection. We do ask that you turn off all File Sharing programs such as: Bit Torrent, Kazaa, Limewire and etc. Not only do many of these spread Viruses and other nasty computer related things but they take our precioussssssss internet connection. If we see any file sharing, or general waste of our bandwidth (Stupid Youtube videos may qualify as this, especially anything with a LOLCAT) we will cut off your connection.

--- Basic PAX BYOC Information ---

The PAX BYOC schedule is as follows:

Friday: 2:00pm - 2:00am (Check in at noon)
Saturday: 10:00am - 2:00am
Sunday: 10:00am - 6:00pm

By now you all should have a lovely email from either Nvidia or Intel with your registration information on it. This email should have a barcode which is binary for LET ME IN, this is your entry, guard it with your life.

When you first get to the convention center, your first step will be to grab your 3-day badge from registration. You'll find registration on the first floor of the convention center. Once you've got your 3 day expo pass, you're good to bring your computer in and if you make your way to the Elevator in hall A there will be an elevator. If you take that to the third floor you will see signs for the BYOC and PC Freeplay sections. We'll also have a hang out spot for those dedicated gamers who show up early, we'll point you in the right direction when you get there. Then you can have a seat, break out the ds, and admire the legion of enforcers slaving away...we expect to start bringing people in at noon and you'll get your BYOC badges at that point.

If you have any questions/comment concerns check out the PAX east forums here- http://forums.penny-arcade.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26 If you have a large group and want to make sure you can all be seated together please email Big Red at reasonablylucid@gmail.com. Make sure to do this Before March 23rd, no guarantees but we'll do our best!

BYOC Security-

PAX East is a HUGE event, we encourage PC gamers to get up and moving for at least a few minutes and experience the wonders of what PAX has to offer. But what about that wonderful computer? We'll keep an eye on it, we have a very capable staff of enforcers who's job it is to make sure your equipment doesn't grow legs and walk away. While we can't guarantee anything (lawyers get involved) in the many years of doing PAX Lan's we have been able to keep computers and gear safe. After the LAN closes we lock the doors, and seal the room so even Ninja's (well American Ninja's, those Chinese Ninja's are a little trickier) can't get in.

While we will make every attempt to keep all equipment in the room secure, do be aware that there is little we can do to prevent ipods, portable game consoles, cd's, big wads of cash, and other small items from walking off. We strongly suggest you keep such items out of plain view and use some common sense when it comes to your own security.

If you're coming with a laptop, we strongly recommend you invest in a laptop lock particularly if you plan on leaving your laptop unaccompanied as you break dance to MC Frontalot or if you go next door to pick on those console gamers (don't forget the hand sanitizer, I heard XBOX is contagious). For more information on purchasing, or renting a laptop lock visit Lpane’s LAN essentials store @ http://boslan.org

Our tourney schedule is crammed packed this year with popular games such as Battlefield Bad Company 2, Alien Versus Predator, and Team Fortress 2. Check the schedule and rush to the 3rd floor to sign up, remember BRING YOUR WHOLE TEAM otherwise, we won't sign you up!

BYOC Contests-

A long standing tradition at PAX is our Crazy, sometimes Zany usually just a little over the top contests. This year we are going all out, with contests every 2-4 hours in the BYOC room we are hoping for some memories to last a lifetime, or at least till September Prepare yourself for keyboard battles, mouse clicks and even some Heavy lifting as we stage the PAX BYOC Olympics in Boston. Join our Steam Group at the LAN for up to the minute contest schedule.

Intranet and Patch Site
We will have an Intranet site available at Http://PAXEAST with general information, links to our awesome sponsor deals and of course an event schedule so you can plan your PAX experience.

Questions?
So you get there, but your LAN cable didn't? Come see our admin area in the back of the BYOC room. We have a fully staffed help desk to answer as many questions as we can.

Just bought a BYOC slot for PAX East on the GeForce LAN web site. Already paid, and received a confirmation email.

I can't arrive at PAX East with my computer until about 3:30pm on Friday, which is an hour and a half after the show opens. Will the BYOC room still hold my space, even though I'm arriving late?

Sorry if this question was asked before -- I couldn't find this question asked previously. Thanks!

You can check in anytime you want. The early check in option is for people who want to get their computers set up before PAX opens so they don't miss anything.

Can I bring my nerf gun/lightsaber/other weird thing?
Don't bring anything that would annoy another attendee or set us up for a crazy lawsuit. PAX East is not an event run by some giant corporate entity; it's a big party we throw for the gaming community in general and PA readers in particular. Have fun, but be cool, and please leave your airsoft/paintball guns at home!

I can't think why you would need it, except to annoy people, or disrupt a video presentation...so probably not a good idea. Too many people in a cramped space to be playing with lasers.

See also "Wheaton's Law".

BYOC registration ends tomorrow. If you don't register by then, you're out of luck I believe.

Very nice, looks good! Do the knobs do anything on front?

Thanks!

I was trying to put power/reset in the front, using the original knobs. I ended up with acrylic case feet with LEDs in them as replacements, and haven't figured out a compromise yet. The power is on the side now, alongside the relocated monitor controls.

Truthfully, I rushed to get this done, and I'm unhappy with how the side panel (not pictured) came out; version 1.5 is going to need some work. :)

Ha! I thought they looked familiar! I just added them to my mod but I'm using them as case feet :D. I have an idea to make the original knob be a power button I can pm if your interested. I understand about the rush I'm painting my mod right now lol. I should have pics up of it final tomorrow

My current designs (Theyre in the sketching phase, and Ijust have the case idea not the components) for either a Roman inspired design with faux marble pillars, or a super victorian/steampunk looking computer, or a nuclear family 50's style computer.

I rock at cases, its building the insidey parts I need to learn.

Uh, I just noticed as I was getting ready to print off everything I need. The confirmation email says that they will be emailing me the barcode two days before PAX. I'll already be there by then, so I won't have the ability to print out my barcode.

Maybe there's a Copymax/Kinkos nearby?
