Sort of a mediocre week it seems...
The
DSi gets a few cool DSiWare games; like Capcom's NES original "
Dark Void" game, which actually looks really fun. The other two games,
Starship Defense and
Chronos Twins seem like they should be fun too, although I've heard mixed opinions of the latter. Also, you can't go wrong with a good game of
Bejeweled. And I'd also like to point out that
Glory of Heracles is a Nintendo-published JRPG of sorts, so don't discount it on account of its boxart or title!
The
HD systems/PC get the modern version of Capcom's
Dark Void game. I don't know anything about it except that it's a sci fi game where you can fly around on your jetpack trying to save some resistance fighters trapped in a void or something like that.
PS2 and PSP finally get their versions of
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. I have read that these ports are pretty inferior in almost every way from the Wii original. Graphically missing tons of effects, controls are janky, the game is less immersive, etc. The only positive thing there is to say about the port is that, well, it's essentially the same game despite lacking in most respects, and that these iterations are only $30.
Lastly, the
Wii gets a couple of interesting digital distro games. First is
Shadow Dancer, a great ninja action game now on the Genesis Virtual Console. The other is
Muscle March, the "WTF Game of the Month" and perhaps of the year and/or rest of time.
edit:
Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment come out on
XBLA and PSN this week as well! It's a prequel to the original Vandal Hearts. Looks good!

Two inferior ports of a game I really want to play and a game I was looking forward to until I tried the horrible demo (Dark Void).

I'm not sure. I can't seem to nail that one down.
Is that supposed to be a retail release?
None of my sources are showing a solid release date for that game. All I got is Q1 2010.

Yeah, the boxart and title just scream junk. The game itself seems to be getting okay-ish reviews. Like it's an okay-ish average JRPG.

Oh.
I have a more difficult time getting release dates for digital-only releases.
Anyone know when that game is supposed to come out on the digital distro services, then? Cus I don't really know. I only have Q1 2010. And I'm pretty sure that it was supposed to be Q4 2009. So it might be one of these games that gets jerked around with its release date.

Konami issued a press release a week or two back saying it's coming out this week (specifically wednesday on XBLA and thursday on PSN).
Aah.. You're right:

I pronounce it bee-log.
I thought that Capcom had worked on but never released a NES version, and having decided to make a current gen version, they went and dug up the old unreleased NES game and put it out on digital distro.
I will say though that my interest in Dark Void and Dark Void Zero has been passing at best.

Interesting.
You know, I'm all for retro "demakes" as they call them.
In this case, Dark Void Zero looks to be more fun than Dark Void.
The whole Dark Void thing kind of reminds me of Bionic Commando. You've got this HD game that is incredibly blah in every respect, and then some 2D retro-esque version which is awesome.
I'm just waiting to get confirmation from reviews and other people that the DSiWare version is awesome.

Have you tried the demo? I got it from here and playing it for just two minutes convinced me that I didn't like it.
Nah, I meant Dark Void Zero. The game is supposed to come out for PC and iPhone as well, or at least I read it in some other place.
I wasn't aware that Dark Void Zero was going to be on anything other than DSi, but I guess it makes sense that it'd be on other platforms too.
Also, thanks for that link to the Dark Void demo. I know I've heard its crap but I want to try it for myself.
In other totally unrelated news, Twin Sector should be available at retail now. The catch is that it's $30 effing dollars instead of the $20 price point that it is on Steam. Laaaaaaame.
