Man, if you are looking forward to the game enough (and don't mind putting up with a bit of neckbeardiness), go to the midnight release

I did that for GTAIV and I do not regret it

is it nerdy as hell, yeah

but hey, you also get the game!

    And I quote:
I decided to ask Chris Priestly, Bioware Community Coordinator Person, exactly to what extent I was fucked on this. I've read quite a bit on how you can bring over your old character, which is obviously a much appreciated nod to a bygone RPG era, but I haven't read much about my own situation. It's a little more broad than you'd think, because there are many reasons why you might not have access to a file from two fucking years ago. I was shocked to hear his reply: that they had fully accounted for this. When creating a new character, you can go down a list of key decisions and set them manually.

    Do you taste that, vsove?

Do you taste that bittersweet flavor of victory?

    Of course you don't.

Tycho is talking about the PC version there.

Vsove said the PC version had it but the 360 version probably doesn't.

    This proves nothing.

He said that the PC might have it but he is 99.9% certain the Xbox doesn't:
I never saw it while playing, and while it's possible it exists on the PC I'm 99.9% sure you don't get that option for the 360.

borfase said the sniping in ME2 was easy mode b/c it slows down as you zoom in. can't tell if i'm happy about that because it'll be convenient or angry because it's fun as it is.

I think that's only if you have a certain Infiltrator ability.

but that's the class I'm playing now! having fun with it too. it's difficult on Hardcore, but it's been fun having to rely on my skills for once. tech skills are pretty fun!

Are you talking about being able to set what happened in ME1 with a new character in ME2? Because I'm pretty sure you can do that in the 360 version, it'd be dumb to not include it.

What is the revulsion to midnight releases? Do some of you actually think that you are better than the masses of people crowding the gamestop counter?

Oh ho ho, I may play video games, and I may want to get this game at midnight, but I am not going to ruin my wonderful self image by going to a video game release.

When I went to the brawl midnight release, I actually met a bunch of really cool guys and went over to their house that night and played brawl for about six hours straight. I'm still friends with them to this day.

From what I've heard it's not an obvious thing. It's just that dudes tell you what happened in the interim and you can be like "No, this happened", and if it's a new character (not from ME1) then they'll be like "Oh yeah, right." but if it's an imported character they'll correct you.

I dunno, it's just what I've heard, though it was from the lead designer. He could've been talking about the PC version, I guess.

Huh, yeah, from Tycho's post it sounds like in the PC version you can just choose when making your character in the beginning. Yeah, I don't think the 360 version has that.

I would strongly recommend not counting on the ability to set any options at the beginning of a New Game without an import. I don't have a definitive answer on the PC, but this is not an option on the 360.

Chris is good people, but he has in the past said stuff and subsequently retracted his statements when it turns out there was a miscommunication.

It seems a bit late in the game for that to be the case here, but it's still possible.

Honestly, the way Hudson said it, he made it sound like it was an in-game thing that you changed in dialogue with characters in the beginning. If that's the case, it doesn't make sense for them to not include it in the 360 version.
