Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Rich Entitled White People And The Shows They See Live
I went to concert tonight, so this here is a CONCERT THREAD
I went to see Brandi Carlile at a place called the Hoyt Sherman, and it was swank as. Here's a picture I snapped of the view I had of the stage.
Spoiler:
The opening act was Katie Herzig and her band, and she was pretty awesome! I didn't really get a picture of her, though, and even if I did it'd be too tiny to tell.
Brandi was amazing, totally got everyone involved and just plain rocked the place. She did some cool stuff, like doing a song completely unplugged, got the entire audience to the notes in a song like some sort of chorus, and even covering Jackson and Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash.
Most of the pictures and videos I got aren't really post worthy, but this is my favorite song and she did it really well! You can sort of see her, but hopefully the sound will be enough!
Also the lady who sat next to me was a total bia and bitched out the usher for seating people who came a little late because he had to stand in front of her when there was a mix up. First she yelled "WHAT THE FUCK GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE" and then got up and gave him a talking to, I'm pretty sure. She was unpleasant! There was also a guy who was close to the front who kept holding up his hands in some sort of Nazi-esque salute but I regrettably never got a picture of him.
So, SE++, what concerts have you gone to, or are going to?
it's the first time he's played anywhere around here though so I really want to go, and he has two opening bands so the price tag isn't as bad considering that
Lost Salientgenerally you don't see that kind of behavior in a major applianceRegistered Userregular
I went to a weird ballet revue in December? Seoul doesn't have a lot in the way of the live music scene. For some reason no one I particularly want to see tours here. Gooo figure. But I think I'll be going to the symphony if I can swing it, expenses-wise, in the next month!
(To be fair to Seoul, there are some mildly entertaining jazz clubs, but I'm not currently able to imbibe, so what's the fucking point.)

I just realized how long t has been since I went to a concert. The last one I went to was Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' Ruin Johnny's Weekend tour in Boston....
also I am digging the hell out of micachu and the shapes
oh my gosh i love mica with all of my heart
today i bought tickets to go see the joy formidable in may and kaki king/an horse in april(i think?). in 8 hours i am theoretically buying joanna newsom tickets. i might cry if they sell out.
I haven't seen a live show in ages, though I've got some work lined up helping with the lighting for whoever is playing in Cardiff International Arena on the 31st of this month and the 3rd of Feb, which will be cool, since I am broke as fuck
These are SOME OF the dates. More to be announced in due course, so please don’t go flipping out just yet if we don’t appear to be playing somewhere you would like us to be. There’ll still be plenty of time for that later.
i've seen tegan and sara three times and they are so fantastic live. tight musicianship, great stage presence. their between songs banter could pretty much be recorded and sold as stand-up.
e: tegan was the slightly more chatty one last time i saw them, though sara did tell an incredibly long story about her asthma and the apocalypse.

I know, but the tickets for the show are like $35 and I already have all those concerts lined up, plus a trip to DC lined up.
I had no voice for about 48 hours afterward.

Next week it is Dan Mangan followed by the Fray.
I have not listened to The Fray, but my girlfriend is all about them so that's what that is. :winky:
I'd highly recommend getting some tickets.
