Luckily I started in SQA, and never had to slog through game-testing. It's probably the only reason I moved on to management and didn't, ya know, kill my entire office.

Software QA testers generally at least get listened to when they raise a bug. Game testers are ignored completely. It's like they are sub-human. You look through Dev-Track and these guys have raised the same bug 30 times and it's always been pushed back.

    I'd have killed motherfuckers.

My solution was to start tinkering with the games in my offtime
The theme from The O.C. makes a good title song for a rap fighting game, I tell you what.

    Denny's is for winners.

Maybe he got lucky, but my husband really enjoys his focus testing jobs at Gearbox. He got to see Borderlands before anyone had really heard of it. It went through all kinds of changes!

(Yes, he knows what's in the next DLC for Borderlands. No, I am not telling you.)

    Okay that's just plain mean.

Maybe he could just kind of hint when it's coming out? Pretty pleeeeease!

Sorry, I don't think he was even supposed to tell me about it. I think I can safely say you'll like it if you play co-op online.

He learned some other weird stuff not related to DLC, though. Apparently Mad Moxxi is Scooter's mom. Ew.

You and your husband must live very close to me then.

Don't worry. When I checked 20 minutes ago, it was up to 9% from 5% when I voted this morning. Now it's at 14% and growing strong.

When Least I Could Do wins the creator can totally stick it to DragonCon for not letting the WEBCOMIC OF THE DECADE register this year!

In LiCD's defense the art is approximately a bajillion times better than CAD's. I realize that still isn't saying much but insert a number high enough so that you can understand that the art in LiCD is actually pretty good.

the reason for this is that the author and artist are two seperate people

so it doesn't really earn any points there

Didn't he used to draw it himself then he decided he should get someone who can draw to do it for him?

The total vote count has doubled since the picture on the previous page was taken and it looks like near 100% of the new votes are for Penny Arcade since the percents of everything else have dropped due to the larger sample size.

At first, I was reluctant to vote against Perry Bible Fellowship. Black humor of it's quality shouldn't drag behind XKCD and Least I Could Do! Would PA really miss one vote...?

Then I glanced over at my Penny Arcade: The Card Game and knew I sold myself long ago.

As a webcomic of the past ten years, PBF stands out considerably.

"Advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice."
"Humor can be dissected, as a frog can, but it dies in the process."

I don't think I realized how good PA was until I read some of the competition on that site. I'm not going to run smack against them but there's a lot of comics on there that don't belong on a best of list.

But at the very least CAD didn't get a nod.

Also, I had no idea non-pornographic webcomics were still using the paid subscription mechanic. I figured that section of the internet withered and died long ago.

  • SirToastySirToasty Registered User regular
PBF is easily one of the very best.

Currently, Penny Arcade isn't the best by any means. But over the entire decade? PA is definitely up there.

PBF continues to barrel ahead... 28% now.

As a decade compilation, both PA and PBF seem pretty reasonable.

I suspect PA will regain steam with a Wednesday comic rallying.

Except that of the two, one has (through the efforts of it's creator(s) made millions for charity and spawned one (two now) of the largest gaming conventions in the world.

and one hasn't updated in 2 years.

PBF is a wonderful comic, don't get me wrong. No other webcomic on the whole can hold a candle to Penny Arcade
