    Huh.

I dunno. I'm raking in ridiculous slabs of cash as it is. But I can't NOT pillage the surroundings...

Is money harder to get in the tougher modes?

I don't really know since I'm playing on easy. I've only tried the dragon trick a bit (only found out about it today), but I think I'm almost done with the
canyon area (just got a message from the underground dealer guy that he knows how to get the bridge to the next area down)
and I'm still short most of the ammo upgrades, all the extra lives and the elite ninja trophy, so I think I'll have to do some more grinding.

I usually kill the enemies with a few moves instead of dragging on a combo though, and my pillaging is limited to locked boxes and especially big piles of stuff, that I can quickly smash with the storm/ the bear instead of going after every single bottle.

Also I've missed both of the wanted poster quests, since I couldn't find the last couple of posters in either of them, and the same will probably happen to the last one as well.

Really? I'm at the same point, actually further, and I have all of the gun upgrades, minus some of the ammo upgrades, and I have all of the armor, trophies, health, move, and sword upgrades. And I'm back up over 100K, so I should be able to buy more stuff shortly.

I didn't bother with the extra lives. I bought one once and then realized it was a better idea to just not die.

By missing most of the ammo upgrades I mean that I have the pistol ammo fully upgraded and the first half, I think, of the shotgun ammo upgrades but the jhonnygun ammo and the sidewinder ammo isn't upgraded. I have everything else, including the guns themselves, upgraded, except the last ninja mask and the extra lives (which I want for completions sake), although I haven't yet actually visited the dealer guy in this area yet and have maybe 60 thousand, IIRC, in the bank at the moment.

I'm nearing the end of the game, I think, and I have everything except the last upgrade on the sidewinder and johnny gun.

I only did a bit of grinding for cash to get there. Also I'm pretty sure this is the last level or darned close and I'm still collecting money...

Edit: Not really sure what the money is for though, as yes there's nothing to buy at the end. Haven't tried the challenge modes. Definitely a cool game, but I was kind of confused at Shinjiro. I must have stumbled into what I was supposed to do rather than do it "properly".

I'm nearing the end of the game too. I just had another session and finished the
    canyon area
I have all the upgrades now. Despite grinding a total of 350 - 400 000 $ with the dragon trick, I still only had 30 something thousand left at the end of the area, after buying the remaining upgrades and filling up my ammo.

Thankfully the grinding didn't take long at all, and split into sessions of 50 - 100 000 $, it wasn't even all that boring.

I guess I just didn't do all that good of a job collecting money in this game without cheating. I missed a lot of those gold drones, probably a few tokens/stars (though I think I got most of them), and failed all wanted poster missions, because of my inability to find the last posters, as well as the totem mission, since I accidentally walked past one of them and when I came back for it the katakara had stolen it.

Only two chapters left, tomorrow is going to be fun.

Also is it really necessary to have a video of a lady performing every motion?

People were apparently not paying attention/following the directions of anything else short of that.

Really? How hard is it to pretend to use a sword?

If memory serves, the game works better with full motion of the arm, but people were still using limp-wristed gestures and getting undesirable results.

Just finished the game. Took me about 17 hours, which includes two challenge replays of the first level and a lot of wandering around lower caldera searching for wanted posters.

    About the ending.
What happened to the old man, who teaches you your moves? He wasn't heard from after the dealer guy betrays you, except for Shinjiro telling you that he forced him to reforge his sword. Unless he was seen again and I just already forgot.

I've finally just started it after picking it up on release day. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I do have a question though. Is there a way to set which 'quest' is your current objective? I've hit a point where I need to find one last truck before hitting a point of no return and I can't seem to find it.
It's the 'second' truck quest line I believe - it's in the list with the second tower and the Payne fight. I'm at 17 of 18 and it's killing me knowing if I were less OCD I could just leave it behind and continue having fun.

There are quests and sub quests. The green triangles point the correct path for the quest. You can't get to the next quest until you finish the current one.
But there are no pointers for the sub quests. (or however you call them)
About the truck you are looking for
is probably down the stairs from the fight with Payne.
There is a parking door sealed with two red locks.
shoot the red locks and you will get to that last truck

Anyone know if the hat/coat/etc. the main character wears match up to any real-life counterparts? Considering a cosplay of him at Otakon this year, if I can get the stuff together in time.

Of course, then there's the matter of wearing that stuff in the heat. But then, it looks like cowboy attire made for desert wear, so I would think there's a way to have it so you don't sweat everything out...

I think The Ram is my new favorite finisher. Actually The Storm is, but that one's unique in the way you do it and I don't find myself having as many opportunities to do it. When I do perform it, though...mmm

I said this earlier before playing it, but Lucasarts needs to pay attention. After having played this, I'm convinced that a FP-lightsaber game could work really well with MotionPlus. Just slap a Star Wars theme on the RS2 engine and profit. Hell, some of the Kusagari powers are like Force moves already, The Dragon being the most obvious example. Speaking of, it was awesome sending dudes flying into
the dark abyss of the mines
    with that move.

So has anyone run into any glitches? I quoted this from earlier, shooting both the locks...did nothing. And saved the game removing them from the door forever after. No biggie, a side quest incomplete-able.

But I'm now seemingly unable to progress past:
After completing the Water Garden, I've gotten a prompt to head to [I believe] the Katakugri Temple, lead by the game's quest marker. Getting there doesn't trigger the next set of events. Jian sits on some boxes and mocks me in his silence. :( I have every quest done in the area but the ten wanted posters, which seems like a side quest and not a plot required one. Am I wrong? Any pointers ...or should I be restarting at this point?

I can't quite remember what's supposed to happen. What do the objectives say to do?

The only glitchiness I've run into is getting stuck in doors. I've had doors close on me twice and been unable to move because of it. Oh, and dashing stopped working a couple times as well after opening the doors that lead down to
the areas with Songan's stolen goods.

Current Objective: Enter the Kusagari Temple
Last completed objective: The Kusagari Gate (The Water Garden)

Took the elevator down to the new area, there's a locked Casino on the left from the lift, and my Quest Marker on the right. Following the marker leads to a Dojo with a Bulletin Board that offers no new Quests, a place to upgrade my Skills, Sword and Hidden Powers. There is nothing new from the last Dojo. There is no one in the Dojo. There is a door in the back, like the others I've been to that leads to the Square outdoor training room, with Jian on some boxes doing nothing. Leaving the Dojo places my marker back on the door into it.

It seems something is supposed to trigger and hasn't. There is a well about a screen away from the Dojo with some cries coming from it, but I can't interact at all with it (and presumably it's for later).

    If I remember right...
A cutscene is supposed to trigger after you enter the dojo, and then you get the mission to visit the Casino.
So yeah, sounds like you're bugged. I don't think you can get out of the Water Garden until it's completed,
    opening the big red gate
, so you may have to restart the level :(.

I didn't realize there was a level restart option and was pretty close to either restarting the game or shelving it for a bit (I hate being forced to restart anything). Thankfully, the "level" started a single fight before my issue and it worked out for me.

Thanks for the heads up on the restart option!

Finished this yesterday morning. I still had a bunch of gun upgrades to go and opted to not bother with them. The last two boss fights were great, if not a bit on the easy side. I hope they work on the balance a bit in the next one as I felt really overpowered by the end. I switched to medium before getting to the final town. A new game+ option would be neat, but I don't think it's really necessary. The ending was satisfying enough and felt very appropriate (at least in terms of length).

I'm no fashionista, but considering the faux-Western setting (and possibly influenced by the Trigun part of the topic title), I'm gonna go and guess that it's some kind of duster.

You'll never see an equivalent. It's a combination of a duster and a retro bomber/biker/combat jacket (the same sort of design can be seen in the Rocketeer). You can find something similar, most likely, but never the same. And you'll never find anything with the middle flap down the front. Since the jackets are for riding and need to split it would get in the way.

So what is everyone's favourite level?

Personally I like the chase because:
The beginning where you fight ninjas on rooftops is really atmospheric, the fight thorough the train is really cool and the desert town is filled with shotgun & machine-gun ammo, allowing you to go to town shooting enemies for a change, and still end the level with full ammo. I especially like machine-gunning my way thorough the big fight in the storehouse.
