i still play on and off as @lucedes.

i had given it up for a while, but i've been playing a little over the past week.

unfortunately i'm totally out of reach of any social interaction right now,
seeing as i'm a mile below london, investigating the rubbery men.

I'm really enjoying this so far but I wish I could do more than 20 actions a day. They should make the sequel in Arkham :)

Thanks for the interactions folks. The cat that Corpekata sent me jumped out of the box, scratched me (2 wounds) and ate all my food (Pekish 1). So, thanks for that ;)

What's the most helpful thing for me to send back? What's with the nightmares? I know if I get enough I go crazy, but did I get a retry or something from them?

When someone sends you nightmares, you're basically trading taking some of theirs on for the retry tools you get for when you fail a challenge of a certain type. And yeah, at 8+ nightmares you go insane and are forced into a crazy dreamworld. Early on you don't want to go there at all, as most of the interesting options will be out of reach, and your recurring dreams all get reset. Nightmares pretty hard to combat in the levels I'm at without spending a ton of Echoes.

I thought the default actions were more than 20 a day though.

Ah, ok. And yes, it's actually 45 a day. I take it you buy fate? I'm considering it. Any other tips? Should I just focus on 2 traits or try to boost all 4? I have the nemesis ambition.

  • CorpekataCorpekata Registered User regular
I don't buy fate, I wallowed through their advertiser options to get enough fate for their bonus membership for a month.

I'd generally focus 2 at the start, nemesis especially (I'm also on it) as it flip flops between Watchful and Dangerous quite a bit. But I'd keep your non priorities within ten or so of your mains, simply because a lot of actions have dual roads you can take.Somedays when I know I can't make any real progress I'll just take a break and level Persuasive or Shadowy, or work on keeping my menaces down.

Tips specifically for Nemesis: Save any wine you get, as well as money. It dead ends at a point where you need to unlock one of two new areas, one of which, as far as I know, needs a ton of wine, the other a decent amount of Echoes. I went with the latter as I'd already sold or used my wines in actions far before that.

Still playing this, if anyone is interested. Not as addictive as at the start, as at higher levels it can slow down a bit, but I generally get to doing most of my actions a day.

Thought I'd send this to the front as the game has been updated recently to be a bit less of a grind, especially at later levels. Various stories and actions require either far less materials to do or at the very least a different combination of materials that are easy to get. They've added a crafting system, or rather expanded on it. A year ago only like 5 or so items could be used to craft from your inventory. Now you can do it with the vast majority of things, which makes getting specific items you need for stories much less of a chore.

They're also going to be doing an event on Feb 1 and 2 where there will be no action limit (still need to regenerate the actions, but you can do as many in a day as you're patient for). Anyways, if anyone's interest is piqued add me @Corpekata for the game's rather strange multiplayer component.

I played this for a long while, even subscribed for a bit, but I got bored about two months ago. I had maxed out my guy, bought 2 of the really expensive houses, and done all the available stories. Glad to hear they're updating it, it does sound intriguing.

So I'm getting a little high up in the nightmare category. My highest stat is a 19. How do I prevent from going completely insane at this level?

Honestly, just let it happen. Nightmares are annoying, but the only time they really affect you is when you have high dream scores since they'll reset them which can really suck. At low levels best off just getting through it, as the means to lower your nightmares are expensive (there's an item in the bazaar tab that lowers it, and certain cards will do it too).

Drinking wine at the refreshment tent was my standard remedy. But at low levels it can be a pain. It costs carnival tickets, and failure gives you Scandal.

Also, it seems like every item you collect has some use. Is there anything safe to sell off?

I don't know, since they've changed up items a lot since I quit. Back then, the answer was no, and I think it still is. However, you eventually have to sell of things because you'll need Echoes occasionally. Just have to decide if it's something irreplaceable or not.
