Researching New York City (1920's 30's) - can anyone recommend good websites/books?

Heya folks, i've always been facinated with history, particularly the 1920s/30s. I love the fashion, the architecture and films. I'm starting to come up with ideas for a comic/grahic novel which is set in 1920s/30s NYC. Does anyone know websites or good books with image references and/or information on the history of that NYC during this era? My only reference so far have been old movies, and they make the era seem really glamerous (which most likely it wasn't). Im just wanting to do a bit of research to get a feel for what it was really liek back then.
