Incredible thread. It makes me want to do some arts and crafts, but I don't have anything I really need to make right now.
On a side note, since this thread has ghostbusters in the title, I feel compelled to recount a terribly mundane discovery I made recently.
Betty Crocker melon scented candles (like so)
smell exactly like the discontinued Slimer Gum.
I guess the weird part is that it doesn't really smell much like melons. But it does add the final obscure touch to any home decorating that involves installing fireman poles between floors and Ectoplasm Containment Grids in the basement.
Basically, the group of people waiting for the signing were told that they could have as many bottles of vodka and wine signed as they wanted, and three pieces of memorabilia signed. We were told that you could take pictures of Dan, but not with Dan since he'd be sitting down and it would clog up the line.
When we got up to the table, he immediately stood up, came around the table, and started shaking hands. He went nuts over the packs, pointing out parts and talking about how "Murray used to bitch about having to wear them."
He loved the car. He was supposed to enter the store through the back but when he saw the car, he went out and walked about it for about 10 minutes looking it over. Which I think is GREAT.
At MegaCon (annual sci-fi/comics/etc convention in Orlando) a few years ago I sat in on a neat talk by member of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion on how they build their costumes using heated plastics and a homebrew vacuum mold, and how they've used it for other props, like proton packs and such.
I'd love to have a place locally that was like. . .I dunno, a community shop-class sort of thing, where you could go and learn how to fabricate shit and weld and stuff.
If you want to learn how to weld, go down to the pawn shop, buy a cheap arc-welder, buy some scrap metal and some rods, and practice until you can get a good bead.

This thread is both heartwarming and fuckawesome at the same time.
And honestly, I think what you do to those cars isn't nerdy (In a bad sense) at all. I mean, pretty much everyone below the age of 60 knows about/has seen Jurassic Park and Ghost Busters and could appreciate those cars!

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

2) This makes me realize how utterly boring and mediocre my life is.

I got my friend a bottle of it as a house-warming gift. Word has it it's pretty good. (He hasn't offered me any of it, though. :?)

We use it as the asshole hat, and that means I get to wear it a lot. So I always make sure to get some mileage out of it whenever I get the chance.
