I thought about writing up a whole thing about my ideal Geo-Force run.
A guy who looks like a long-dead folk hero returns to his ancestral homeland, only to find his people subservient to a corrupt regime. Outmatched by the government he seeks to dismantle, he's forced to assemble an army of trusted allies, before finally storming the castle, and freeing his people.

grossssssssssss i don't want to kill off a fan favorite character in a universe that isn't in the universe where we wrote a defining and critically acclaimed run
So, I wanted to try doing digital inks over my pencils, and did another Geo-Force redesign, this time playing up his lava abilities. In my head, this would be his shit-gets-real costume. Like, in his normal rock form, he walks around with flowers sprouting up in his footsteps. In this one, he leaves charred footprints.
Again, I tried to play up the stress fractures and such that would occur in his face and joints, but rather than a bunch of little cracks, they're just represented by wider gaps between the rock that makes up his armor.
There's a black and white version on my blog, too.
kewl stuff there Munch! I like how the two designs show that the natural world can be beautiful, yes, but also very dangerous
Munch, you should just change the dude's name from Geo-Force and make him your own entirely. Your visual concept and rough plot outline are quite good and not really dependent upon the original character or the DC Universe, so why not?

I might do just that. It's not uncommon for me to use established characters or archetypes as a springboard, for something new. The problem is really just finding the time, to do everything I'd like to. I've got a bunch of ideas that are kind of near and dear to my heart, that I'd like to do before getting around to my faux-Geo-Force or faux-Adam Strange stories.
Yep, Mike and Joe, the superhero epic you've been waiting for!
You can really tell what comics I was into, just based off that one image. I wish I could find the comic I did, when I was really into manga, Cyberforce, and Crimson.
I don't really like the trend of making super heroes costumes look more like body armor, but it works pretty well for Hawkman.
I think it can work for certain characters. It makes a lot of sense for Hawkman, and an argument could be made that it would work for Batman too, and other close-range characters.
It could just be Bloodsport. Why create a new generic mercenary-type when you can just reuse an old one?
Well, it's not like there's a huge deal of work in creating a new generic mercenary.
Just need a couple of buckets full of violent/macho sounding nouns to generate names, a dice labeled "Mutant" on 4 sides, "Really badass normal" on the other two and you're good to go.
Maybe another dice to determine what shade of grey/black you're going to use on the costume. The other color is going to be red, so no real need for a dice there.
As a proponent of Hawkman's old, wingless helmet, I dig that design.
That said, I could do without some of the ribbing, and I'd like it more, if it had a more unified color scheme. Between the green, red, black, grey, yellow, brown, and blue, there's a lot going on.

Then I realized that's just Doom 2099.

So can the real Bill Mantlo. Barely.
Was this really necessary? Not the coolest of jokes, really.

Man, you don't even want to see the stuff I conceived as a kid.

I really like this redesign
and now I want a pulpy space adventurer Hawkman comic
"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic

Probably. This is the guy that made an entire team of Wolverine clones.

alright I'm sorry, we all know. I don't need to draw any more attention to it.
