In areas that have crappy weather? Yeah they aren't the best investment.
Oh, yeah. I'm wondering if there are any other problems. Like if having a soft top gets you worse mileage because of how the wind goes over it or some stupid shit.
They tend to suffer in the area of chassis stiffness, unless they're built like TVRs, with a massive structural crossmember running the length of the car through the middle of the passenger compartment.

removing the roof means either you deal with a less stiff chassis or you reinforce it
so either you get a bendable car or a very massive one

It gets you higher premiums because driving a convertible makes good drivers into bad drivers.
It gets you pulled over more because cops think you think you're such hot shit.

Thank you, I understand now.
I'm wondering how this applies to small cars, like a Smart Car or a Mini, now.
That's another great advantage of driving a car as nondescript as a Nissan Sentra: I'm the last fucking car on the road to get pulled over just because the cop was bored.

you see, it makes the chassis less stiff
so they have to reinforce it if that is a real problem and then it becomes heavy
because the chassis is not as stiff without the roof and then they need to reinforce it as the chassis isn't as stiff

When Subaru Foresters started hitting the used market over here there was a shortlived thing for dropping the suspension and, the forester basically being a tall Impreza, doing the usual Impreza engine mods.
I don't know. I called in to see what time to come in tomorrow and apparently there are 'no more hours' for me so I should come pick up a check and drop off my uniform.

It is absolutely baffling to me that this sort of thing is even legal.

If a company hires you and there's no employment contract, they can drop you from employment whenever they want. I don't see a legal way that this could or should be fixed. Other than full-on communism I guess.

It does seem a little callous but the US does appear to be free and easy on that kind of thing

That happened to me once, but it was after I'd already shown up for work. I pointed to a co-worker and said "How about you have no more hours for them instead? I've been here three times as long as that bum."

I accidentally figured out that I was more than likely caused by birthday sexings for my dad.
It was a bit trickier to figure out (not that I was trying to) because I was born a month early.
it's usually not a problem

I wish it was old and that no-one wanted to buy it because then we could buy a new car and I could get that
