As I take it, Pinfeldorf isn't at the bar, but he's at a table next to the bar. So it's not like this jolly idiot is yelling across the room.

  • FaranguFarangu I am a beardy man With a beardy planRegistered User regular
I thought that Pinfeldorf came up to the bar to talk to him. But this guy is naturally very loud.

You mean PEOPLE who CAPITALIZE various words ARE supposed to BE LOUD?

I think I might start parodying this guy as our journey progresses. Should be fun.

Wow, the IC thread moves fast! Loving it. :) I will be busy the next day or two, so I probably won't be able to post as much as the rest of you, but I'm definitely going to do my best to keep up.

I'm all the Striker we need! To be honest, you could pick up an anything to fill the gap. Two-handed Defender, a more offense-minded Leader. We have the four basics, the fifth person can be anything.

    Two things.

    1. Charge rules. When a creature with reach charges, it must end its charge in the nearest possible square it can attack from. Therefor, the Dire Boar cannot end its turn in G17 (for the purposes of this post, I'm will be referring to large creatures as occupying the upper right square in terms of grid placement). In order for the boar to legally charge me, it must end its move in either F16, G16, H16 or I16. All of those squares are exactly 7 squares away from the Boar's starting point, making them all legal spaces for the charge to end (and hit Zurin).

    2. This is the part where I become "that guy" and point out a DM's mistake in our favor. Since standing up is a move action and charging is a standard, the northernmost boar (let's call him Boar A) can totally charge something on this turn. Presumably Jordan, who's well within charge range (he may be hiding behind those barrels, granting him cover, but since he didn't make a stealth check the boar presumably knows he's there). Again, the nearest spaces to Jordan that Boar A can legally charge to are B14, C14, D14 and E14, all of are exactly 5 squares away and grant Jordan cover (and thus a -2 penalty to the Boar's attack roll. Since charging in inherently a +1, that's a net -1 to the attack roll. Not great, but better than nothing).

Pointing out that a dire boar can charge the healer is most definitely NOT in our favor.

    Just sayin.

Also, both boars started their turn in the OID zone, so the top boar should take an additional 2 points of damage from the zone as well.

Zone is Burst 1 centered at G10, so it affects squares F9-11, G9-11, and H9-11.

Also updated my stat block to include my Orb of Imposition power, which I forgot to list.

Ok, newbness showing again, I know, but as I read the books, I see that it's a standard both to make an attack, and to ready an action, which, to me, means that Pinfeldorf you can either ready your Sudden Scales or make that attack. Is that what you're seeing, Hobbes?

    farangu.png
    Spoiler:
  • Jack HobbesJack Hobbes Registered User
Normally? Yes. Page 291 of the Player's Handbook 1.

"Whatever action you choose, the act of readying it is a standard action".

HOWEVER, he mentioned Sudden Scales, which is an Immediate Interrupt. I think he's saying that he's planning to use it on whatever tries to hit him. I think.

Yeah, exactly what Hobbes said. I can't use it without a Trigger anyway.

    1133965-1.png?1297145727
  • Jack HobbesJack Hobbes Registered User
The trigger is you getting hit by an attack, meaning that you can use it whenever you get hit by an attack (and also are able to use immediate actions).

I should have cover against the crossbow bolters from where I am unless they moved. one of the benefits of being back to back with an ally :) I dont know if you factored that in if you did nevermind but if not I don't think they hit me.

I'm not saying you should make rolls "outside the screen", but it would be nice if you posted math formulas.

Like, if monster A rolls a 23, you don't necessarily need to link to invisiblecastle, but saying "17+8-2(cover)=23vsAC" would go a long way.

    Just sayin'.

Minor quibble. Samael is actually 17 HP down, so if Mundane soul could change his statblock that would be great.

ANOTHER NINJA EDIT: Zurin's AC is actually a single point higher than it says in his statblock (25, not 24). I'll change it now.
