There is a lot of archeological evidence that early agriculturists were very malnourished because they depended entirely on their wheat and bread
i have heard a lot about this from my prewife who is VERY interested in early subsistence patterns.
Yeah, I've heard that before. Basically, went people went from being hunter-gatherers to farmers their overall health and welfare actually decreased since they had a less varied diet and were now toiling away and losing part of their crop to kings/warlords/priests/etc.
Interesting theory I read was that the divide between the new farmers and those who resisted "domestication" and remained as nomadic pastoralists was so stark that the latter barely regarded the former as human.
i would buy that theory because we still do it today- see the Dobi-juhansi

Oh, republican cousin that wants to be a politician, I will not become a fan of you running for State Senator on facebook. No sir, I will not do that since you believe in Palin 2012 and that Glenn Beck is an intelligent human being.

I think he got what he wanted out of Myers, or he wouldn't have hired him. ditto Pitt. humorous on purpose whether the actors fully realized it or not.
What's this gluten debate about? I didn't even know there are gluten-hating people who aren't coeliac disease sufferers.
Coeliac disease is a bitch. And somewhat hereditary too, as I've found out to my dismay. Fortunately there is gluten-free bread, pasta and beer.
have you had the sorghum beer?
i actually love it a lot and am not coeliac
I'm not sure. Possibly, because my mom and grandfather are both great beer lovers and coeliacs and have made me taste every gluten-free beer they could find.
But it turns out that some regular beers are so low in gluten that (some) coeliacs can tolerate them, and one of my favorite local beer brands happens to fall into that category.

you know, i think that Diamond talked about this case in Guns Germs and Steel, and maybe Pollan did in one of his books, but on the other hand, the agriculturalists ended up winning out pretty handily. Like, the hunter-gatherers had an unsustainable lifestyle with enormous variability from day-to-day.

I would disembowel someone and wear their entrails as suspenders before I gave up bread.
I don't care if it isn't healthy. I watch what I eat. I make room for bread in my life.
Everyone should accept bread into their heart.
Especially crusty french bread, and soft doughy yeast rolls
I'm getting a half pack of lifesavers right now just thinking about the melted butter rolling down a basket of those rolls

It's good to know I'm consistent.

you must remember we have the good sense not to live in your blasted arctic hellscape
Are we having a "who is more sicilian" contest?
Because I've got the skin and the eyebrows. Also, 3 out of my 4 grandparents were born there.
So you're a really determined Bulimic?
Still a mudblood at the end of the day, aren't we
I have the skin and nose and eyebrows (i think?)
DAMN IT!
My dad has the skin and the eyebrows.
I only got the eyebrows.
What was the last time you committed larceny?
How many times have you been stabbed?
Would you describe your body hair as "tufted," "matted" or "ubiquitous"?
rain is great you silly
even people who like rain don't like shitty drippy bullshit days.
You look like a mountain man.
I imagine you walked home holding an axe with your trusty bear at your side.
