I had to return this because it refused to work on my system, I loved the game but getting booted from 9/10 matches for having no games played was annoying too, plus the lag didn't help. But S2 games was really cool about it and it was no hassle at all so once I upgrade my system I'm definitely giving this another go.

I strongly suggest anyone who is new to play "No Stats" games first before diving into the real thing. This will allow you to learn w/o tanking your stats. Also this new "invite a friend to play 10 no stats games" means there are always people playing no stats games with "0" games played (because winning/losing a no stats game will not add to how many games you've played) Thus people won't kick you because you haven't played any games.

Once you begin to feel more comfortable with the game play and heroes then I would get your feet wet with stats games. New players who go straight to stats games, will almost always hear people "bitching" at them.

I don't know about others, but I never bought the game. I didn't enjoy it enough during beta to even consider purchasing it. And I know a few people I convinced to play in beta probably didn't get it either. So that's at least a few people disappearing.

Since you no longer play and the OP isn't getting it's fair share of updates, would you be ok with shutting her down and allowing me to create a new OP?

 Pretty funny that the OP didn't even really like the beta or buy the game.

I just played my first games with Bombardier over the weekend. He is a pretty fun hero, but his boom dust skill seems pretty shitty. (You have to cast it multiple times, you should just be able to cast it once and it will apply all charges)

And Moraxus seems really good from what I've seen, thought that might have to do with people not used to fighting him.

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Yea, over my thanksgiving break I plan on piecing together a new OP.

And Moraxus is just that good. He will probably end up getting nerfed. ;-)

Theres no doubt in my mind that he won't get nerfed. He is so rape its not even funny. He is hella fun to play as, though. Now playing AGAINST him in darkwood vale is the worst. Once he ults, it pretty much slows down the gameplay if its 3v3 or less. I think I liked bombadier way more though. Throwing boomdust on someone reminds a little bit of using red shells in mario kart. Which makes me lol.

On a side note, this thread def. should get more attention than it does. We're always talking about HoN at work, so why not be able to read about it at the same time. That and penny arcade is like the only site that isn't blocked >.>

I still play it everyday, usually stream it too.

Moraxus is a great addition but he'll probably get a nerf soon from all the QQ pubbers out there. Also player base is about 40k at peak hours. If you like dota, just wait for dota 2. I mean obviously you're gonna like it more cause it's a straight up copy of dota.

Its been a while since I've read the article, did Valve announce anything pertaining to new heroes besides the direct ports? If not, thats cool but I do like how HoN has still been pumping out these new heroes.

Expect a few more Heros when they release team match making, at least that's what I hear... and also makes sense why they've added room for so many more Heros.

Yeah I know for sure they're gonna add heroes to hon. I was just curious if when DOTA 2 comes out, will they just stick with hero ports only, or if they'll be making some new hero additions.

My friend is in DotA beta, and I remember him mentioning that DotA2 is pretty much the future of DotA. Which I take as being, DotA will be updated less often and eventually cut off entirely. So if he's going to make new content, it will go onto DotA 2.

Sweet. I love me some HoN but I'll definitely make the jump DOTA 2. Particularly because Valve is backing it, and I love everything they do.

That's kind of a misleading question.

Icefrog is still putting out new versions of dota on a regular basis, and that includes new heroes (there are well over 100 now). There's no reason most of them wouldn't get ported, and if he works on dota 2 the way he works on dota 1, then there will be new heroes quite regularly.

As for the future of wc3 dota, well it'll keep going as long as people still play it.

I'm not entirely sure how that was misleading but I wasn't aware of him still pumping out new heroes. Last ones I remember before I quit were the chieftain and bat rider I think.

I played lots of DOTA and now play lots of HON but I don't see myself going over to DOTA2 unless its far superior since I doubt they'll have a linux client. Not having to reboot to play a game is very convenient.

Not misleading in a bad way, just not quite the right one.

There have been at least half a dozen new heroes since TC and Batrider, plus a few remakes.

If Icefrog just ported the same amount of heroes hon has right now for the launch of dota 2, and then released a new port every week after that it would still take like 9 months to catch up to what wc3 dota has.

I'm starting to LOVE Maliken. Using a blood chalice on that guy is so funny early game, laned against a succubus and about 5 minutes into it she had to change lanes cause I was just spamming my nuke thanks to chalice.

Ladies and gents, get ready for..

    Myrmidon

A denizen of Newerth's uncharted depths, Myrmidon has arisen to check the Hellbourne advance before it reaches his beloved seas. Like the ocean whose form he can take on, Myrmidon is powerful, fickle, and at times even cruel. With his ability to transform into a monster of terrifying strength and power, some question where his loyalties truly lie, but his might is certainly a welcome aid to the Legion in the war against the daemons.

    Abilities:
Weed Field: Myrmidon calls forth a line of seaweed from the ground in a line in target direction to bind his enemies after a short delay. Bound units are stunned and take magic damage over time.
    16899b7.gif

Magic Carp: Myrmidon sends his fish friend after target enemy unit. The magical carp will follow the target until it hits, dealing magic damage to and stunning the target if it is moving at the time of impact.
    2gy15dk.gif

Wave Form: Myrmidon manifests the sea's rage, turning into water and crashing to target location. Enemies he passes through are slowed and have their magic armor reduced.
    30tsx88.gif

Forced Evolution: Myrmidon transforms himself, exchanging his ranged attack for more durability and power. In his transformed state, Myrmidon attacks at melee range, dealing magic damage to and slowing the target with each hit.

Coming to a Newerth near you on Friday, Dec. 3rd 2010.

Maliken was one of my favorite Heros when I first started, now I tend to play more hard carries, or Moraxus, he's just too good!

From all the talk on the HoN forums, it isn't a port. Also my friend who "knows someone" says to expect the new interface (with new match making) "very, very soon". He's referring to it as 2.0.

Also, I haven't had time to create a new OP, I will try to get something together when the new interface drops.

S2 Games Studios have informed us that on December 13 will release a major update for free Heroes of Newerth.

Hon 2.0, it will introduce a 3v3 map – Grimms Crossing – interface improvements and matchmaking system and microtranzactions system will allow players to buy icons, flags, announcer packs or skins for heroes using HON coins .

It will also be available a Casual mode (I.E. = LoL mode), the rules differ from standard mode of play, such as the fact that a hero will not lose gold in the event of death or experience due to Deny.

Also hints of a map editor being released.

Hero Skins are always fun as long as they don't charge an arm or a leg for some of them (looking at you teemo astronaut skin). I would prefer if they just stayed the same price, casual mode sounds okay but it sounds like it's going to gimp a lot of new players since they won't have any practice with denys and stuff. Although I did read that you can still deny, it just has no penalty for the opponent you lane against.

Maybe they will think about a price cut since they are introducing microtransactions! Fingers crossed.
