Hmm... Looks like I MIGHT have to pass on the BBQ, but I'm not sure yet. I will check with my supervisor tomorrow, see what I can arrange.

The same goes for the LAN too, I just realized... DAMMIT!

I might just request the LAN days off. I will keep you informed!

    <@frellnik>; and suddenly, Snickers

I may have to recommend Split/Second for the LAN. It supports LAN play, and it's pretty damn intense.

If anybody else has it for PC, that is...

I was tempted to pick this up. How is the PC version? Is the online multiplayer good too? We can also play more Flatout 2. Perhaps other people will be interested in racing too.

I haven't tried multiplayer yet as I haven't had much time, I just went through the first episode or two. The PC version works very well, people have said it's only a console port (what else is new) but it's good. If I get a chance to try out some multiplayer, online or LAN, I will let ya all know.

I am definitely down for Flatout 2 as well. That has brought much fun to many of my LAN's in the past. I just wish Ultimate Carnage had LAN play...

So, Split Second is on Amazon for $30. I couldn't pass that up. Especially when I was considering pay $60 for the 360 version last week.

Turns out Split/Second works well over LAN and supports up to 8 players. Very easy.

I'm getting it setup for my LAN in a couple weeks but we should play it at Red's too.

I've just made a Facebook event for Happy Hour. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=119385651430905

If you are planning on coming please RSVP on the above link, here, or both. If we get as many people as we did last year I'm going to call ahead. I don't want us to surprise them and not have a place for all of us to sit together.

Less than a week until more booze with awesome PAXers! I hope to see you all there.

    blur > split/second
Also, what time should we be at the BBQ?
I was planning on ~11-noonish, but that might be too early.

I just picked up Blur for PC but haven't had a chance to play it yet. I'm sure it will be pretty awesome for the LAN, but I wouldn't rule out Split/Second just yet.

Yea, it is odd that people who haven't played it are saying that Blur is better. I've heard almost nothing about it, but a ton about Split Second. I didn't realize that Blur had such a reputation. I'll have to see if theres a demo.

Also blur gets negative points in my list for ripping off the logo and name of the super awesome british band Blur!

    Big Red:

You should now have my payment for the LAN. Also, I want to bring my own office chair like I did last time, if that's cool.

Alright, should be no issue to come to the BBQ! Still waiting to see if I get the time off for the LAN. Will TRY to verify that today heh.

Oh yeah, I'm coming to the BBQ. I think I've said it in IRC a couple times, but there you have it all official like.

  • That_Spoony_BardThat_Spoony_Bard Registered User regular
I *should* be at the bbq but probably will only show for an hour or two. I have a workshop to attend from 9-12 and a crapload of things to prepare for the following week.

  • CronusCronus Registered User regular
Picked up some alcoholic sweet tea and Sangria for the BBQ. I'll also bring my copy of Bang! in case we want to kill Snickers in the first round again. :D

After finally playing Blur, I will have to agree about it being > than Split/Second, though I would still like to play both at the LAN.

Thankfully blur has filled a need at the LAN. A fun game to play that supports a large enough players to accommodate everyone else while theres a game of L4D2 vs going on :P

  • CronusCronus Registered User regular
Well, after reading Tychos post on Blur I'm definitely going to wait and play it at the LAN before picking it up. That and I'm having a ton of fun blowing things up in Split Second. They both seem like they would work well for LANs though.

The simple fact that Blur supports 20 people in a LAN game is amazing. That along with all of the customization options for LAN games will make it insane to say the least, especially if we can get that many people playing.

I think I have found the successor to Flatout 2 for my LAN's. :P

    M11_logo_gray_small.png
  • BigRedBigRed Seattle, WARegistered User regular
Just make sure everyone has their firewall *off* when trying to play. If just one person has a firewall on then everyone will have issues connecting.

But yes it does support a full 20 people, and its fucking nuts.

I will bring the family to this "BBQ". Not sure what I'm bringing food wise yet, let me know if there's something specific that is lacking.

I guess Ill start a list and try and keep it updated. Im working long hours this week so no garuntees.

I can bring some sandwich fixings (I have a ton off sandwich meat that needs to be used up), and I have a lot of burger buns, hotdog buns, and some burger patties.
Ill also bring a pack of condiments and some charcoal + grilling tools.

I might be able to bring a little charcoal grill as well, depends on its condition.

I can bring a bunch of sausages (chicken and some other kind from their collection of brats/etc) from the fresh fish company. The chicken ones tend to be small so I'll bring 2 dozen of those probably. I'll probably also come early to help mind the spot. (and get decent parking :) )

You going to bring utensils this time BR? :)

    In court attire.

    On a trampoline.

I am not going to deal with bringing food across the border. Unless there's something that would be easy...maybe I could bring a dessert type thing.

Methinks I can actually make it to the bbq with Arnonaut! He's not working that day and I don't have to be in until 5. We will be there with food and/or beverage. Perhaps.... pie?
