Most of his complaints about star trek come from the two picards and movies = action tv = story. In insurrection he has tv picard lecturing movie picard on the exact same subject as what takes place in insurrection.
He doesn't so much complain about the Star Trek Make-Shit-Up techniques as all sci-fi does that. But it's breaking the established rules and characters already laid out that is a sign of bad sci-fi writing.

So apparently there were talks about Lucas and Co granting rights to Star Wars to HBO to make an HBO style series (aka actually decent television) using the Star Wars universe. Something serious about a different set of characters most likely in a different timeline then shown in the moview, so either a pre-prequel time (like younger yoda and his pals) or after RotJ. Some even speculated it would be based on or around the KOTOR games and the Mandalorian wars.
But no. It was not to be. Instead Lucas teamed up with Seth Green and a writer for the Daily Show to make a comedy cartoon about Star Wars.

They probably could have just spent less money and installed a bunch of massage chairs so that I could get my backrub on while watching krakens being released
