    Lazarus Inc.
    Action 1/3:

While the headquarters staff cut up the drone, the away team examine the big floating pyramid.

Knowing that Formic Solutions has already scanned it, Lazarus Inc.'s staff sample the pyramid's hull- or try to. It's some sort of otherworldly superdense metal and nearly impossible to scratch
    Spoiler:

    The Gratifying Octagon
    Full-turn action (3/3):

The giant orbs baffle the Octagon's researchers. Although they don't outright tell their armed escort this. Wouldn't do for moral. So they just carry on as if they know what theyre doing

Back at base the artifact proves fascinating. It's a like a beacon of magnetic energy. Tests prove that a half-decent scanner could detect it from the other side of the planet

    THINK
    Action 2/3:

THINK makes a startling discovery. The giant orbs are charging some kind of energy weapon- it was just the energy sigantures wre too disguised to be noticed

It is preparing to attack the headquarters known as The Rift...

    Spoiler:

Feeling that they're close to coming to a better understanding of the pyramid structure, Lazarus continues their research on it.
    Spoiler:

While in the Gardens, a Lazarus shuttle overheard observes a large creature.
    Spoiler:

  • ronrabronrab Registered User regular
While its plaintive message goes out over the InterWeb, all of the calculations THINK can bring to bear are turned toward analyzing the best Tactical measures to use against the Orb's massive energy weapon.

    Knowledge + Tactics: 1d10 + 5 + 1 = 9

The results are sent to any faction that seems to be preparing to take action against the Ominous Orbs of Doom.

    Lazarus Inc.
    Actions 2/3 and 3/3:

While they watch, the pyramid spits out a swarm of the smaller pyramids, at least a dozen of them

Staying as a tight unit, they vanish into the distance- but the Lazarus operatives manage to catch one of the smaller pyramids intact!

Meanwhile the shuttle cautiously scans the large creature- the Abomination is a barely human-looking twelve foot tall freakbut stooped and powerfully built, lumbering along like a gorilla

Strangely enough, there's barbed wire wrapped liberally around its club-like arms.
    Spoiler:

    THINK
    Action 3/3:

Even THINK is tactically stumped. There seems to be no obvious course of action

The blast, while powerful, wouldn't be enough to destroy the hq but it's not exactly going to be desirable either

Well, the red issues have been dealt with, Im going to assume that the orbs still have to charge up to attack so that fight is shelved for turn 3. Secondly, we are all working together to win this game as a group right? or are we individually trying to win with some monopoly deals along the way?

if we are working together, shouldnt we pool certain tokens to select players so that the info they discover can help everyone faster? I see a lot of drone tokens about and we might have had an unlock by now.

Crushero and I can pacify the enemy while the others research the hell out of the BBEG's...
or am I being too altruistic and possibly breaking the game by getting peeps to work together?

  • ronrabronrab Registered User regular
I think win conditions are entirely up to individuals. You could try and be the baddest most powerful faction and take over the planet, or consider it a win if everyone survives, or something else.

If we can share tokens that would be great. My RP conditions currently dictate I can only make offers by emoticon, though.

Ok, well, I dont like zombies in my back yard so I am going to Warfare and Tactics them as well.
    zombies are WEAK TO TACTICS!!

1d10 + 7 = 17(!) Warfare + Tactics against Wandering Zombies in the Downtown Corporate Sector

1d10+3 = 4 D: Research the zombies with knowledge and tactics

I'm all in favor of working together - I mean, saving the planet is awesome, and there's no direct competition available, so if we all scratch each other's backs, profit all around.

Also, that whole "not cooperating about drone tokens" bit made me facepalm a little. WE COULD BE DRONE MANUFACTURING, GUYS.

If you need me, I'll be over here taming Giant Crabs until I'm somehow useful. I'm sure they'll let me spring a CRAB BATTLE on some unsuspecting enemy in the future.

I know research isnt up our alley, el skid, but since you've already used your non-local move, on the rioters, try and reasearch the pyramids in your area. it's better than nothing... or try for the gun dealer and get some fire power.

HeavyVillain, clarification on trading stats, please:

"Players may trade their attributes/specialisations at will, representing the sharing of resources, technology, staff, etc. This has to be consensual and pointed out to the GM. You can't not honour an agreement."

Since this is under Economy, can it /only/ be done for Resources stats, or can you trade anything?
Does it cost an action to trade?
How long does a trade last? Is it a literal trade, where for the duration you have the other company's stat in return? If you need to take an action during this period, do you use your usual stat, zero, something else? (If trading does not take an action and you do not lose the stat you trade, there's no reason for everyone not to trade with everyone else every turn, and get max values in all stats.)

  • El SkidEl Skid The frozen white northRegistered User regular
Hey, scientist! You did so well last time, why don't you try and take a look at the pyramids while our hit squads are out dealing with those zombies. We don't even mind if you crush bits of pyramid this time...

Edcrab (Aurora) still has two actions; everyone else is done for the turn.

"Missions are the opposite: they're prolonged assignments where analysis and consideration are encouraged, if not essential. Authority to squeeze factions for information, and then maybe Knowledge tests to monitor and research the competition.

Studying a mission will let you know what specialisations will be challenged, which stages will be the hardest, and what the consequences and rewards of completion are likely to be."

If I am reading this correctly, rather than just studying (for example) the Pyramids directly, you can investigate the assignment itself, and obtain more information before going in. This would be Very Useful.

  • EdcrabEdcrab Registered User
You're quite right, I can opt to Science/Supernatural research the actual Pyramid tech tree in order to get a hint. I'll likely do that with my last two actions, but first I'd kinda like to see what V's stance is on trading.

In the barebones version that Phil cooked up, we'd all agreed that trading was free and instantaneous but that you couldn't hand the same token/stat point back in the same turn. Not sure what Villain is doing in this instance...

I'm sticking with this. Trades are done at the very moment that they're announcd and thus impact all future checks for that turn. Trades DO NOT consume an action but you must have at least 2 unspent actions left in order to trade (you cant make three Resources checks and then give all the points to a teammate for example)

I.e., Ed makes 1 actions and then gives ronrab all his Warfare. For the rest of that turn Eds Warfare is +0 for all checks but ronrab's modifier is now 1 point higher. Ed can then make his other 2 actions, but with his Warfare at 0 of course

(Also I'll end the turn shortly but I'm wrestling with a miniphalla right this sec sorry)

Each "giving" player can only give from one stat each turn and the max gift/tribute/bonus yuo can have from all combined trades is +10 (i.e existing value +10)

    Yikes that's big.

On the plus side, the indestructible explode-things orb seems to follow the artifact around, so we don't need to worry about it just yet- we can just keep moving it.

As for this master warrior... I say we give masses of Warfare and Melee to El Skid or BEN, let one of them fight this dude and get 3 bonus points, and then return everything later. That's too big a handout to pass up!

I'm tempted to suggest that Skid invokes Exigency and takes 10 on the roll, but because that'd cost a point of Melee it'd make the end result +2 rather than +3. Hmm.

Anyway. Transferring 1 Warfare from Aurora Amalgamated (Edcrab) to Crushestro Inc. (El Skid).

THINK sends a detachment of cubes scuttling after the orbs.
Back at Axiom, deep thought and analysis is given to the Orb situation, extrapolating and collating information.

    Know.Science = 1d10 + 10 = 11 to research the orbs in City Outskirts
Know.Science = 12 to investigate the general orb event
THINK is off its game today...
