Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Moving large furniture across the country? (Where is my teleport beam?)
So, I may be moving to the other side of the country (Washington state to NYC or New Orleans.) Most of my furniture is from yard sales and thrift shops and I will have no compunctions about returning it from whence it came. But I do have two really nice pieces I want to take with me. One is a dresser I've had since a kid, the other is a loft bed my father made for me. (Aside from sentinmental value, the loft bed will be an asset in a small apartment.) The loft bed comes apart for transport, but it's still, you know, BED sized (and then some, since lofts are "bunk bed" like.)
Neither piece of furniture will fit in my compact car. And if I end up in NYC I don't want to take my car anyway as I've heard it's awful to drive in.
I've thought about renting a small U-Haul, but I'm wondering if there's a better way.
