Making PS3 play Region B Blu-Rays?

A blu-ray is coming out on the 17th that I want to see, but it's Europe (region B blu-ray) only, and the only blu-ray players I have in the house are my PS3 and a Sony blu-ray player. Is there any way to make my american PS3 play a region B blu-ray? Or do I have to buy a region-free blu-ray player? Really don't want to spend 300 bucks for one movie, but I'm absolutely dying to see it.

Yes, for games. For movies it's not.

I know piracy is frowned upon in these parts but since he is going to own the disc, is ripping it an option?

Because you could rip it and encode it in a format the PS3 can stream.

EDIT: From where are you ordering this? I think I need to see this.

A lot of Blu-Ray Movies aren't region encoded, it's worth checking out some sites to see if this one is locked.

    There's a good list here: http://www.dvdworldusa.com/bluraylist.asp?sortby=multiregion

Valhalla Rising doesn't seem to be on it though.

In theatres and on demand, but its being put out by IFC so that means LA/NY only, probably never expanding (cant remember the last time an IFC movie went big), and on demand only if you have time warner cable. Probably won't be on U.S. DVD/BR markets till August.

edit: And here's the link to buy it http://www.amazon.co.uk/Valhalla-Rising-DVD-Mads-Mikkelsen/dp/B00355CGV8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1272918300&sr=8-1

Ignore the stupid cover art, it's to get money from the 300 crowd since this was a pretty low budget indie flick.

I found that, but it's just the regular dvd.

I also kinda groaned at the cover art. Like I've done enough research to know what this is about so I kinda did a 'WTF?' when I saw it.

Meh, can always Photoshop a GOOD cover for myself. 8-)

Ripping is not piracy. Downloading it because you're too lazy/can't rip it with your PS3 is.

Unless you have Linux on your PS3, there's no legal way for you to obtain a playable copy without buying new hardware.

Ripping is considered Copying by the higher ups and would be litigated as such if it was pursued by the company releasing the Blue-ray.

    Moo.
