The logic pieces I find myself wasting time trying to find are usually:
-A 1 block that's hard to tell is the only block left on that row due to perspective and/or surrounding blocks.
-Rows where the correct blocks have been colored in from other clues so the rest of the row can be destroyed but I haven't noticed yet.
-Rows that have been made the correct size by way of clearing out other blocks but I haven't noticed yet. This is harder to notice than having the correct solution highlighted, especially with circle and square rows and evenmoreso if there's no highlighted blocks in the row already.

One thing you can do with 1 blocks like that is just try highlighting them. If they are the only block in that row/column/plane, they will gray out and you know you have your block. It is really hard to tell sometimes, especially with the larger puzzles.

If a row or column is n blocks wide and the edge number is n-1, you can color in everything except the block on each edge. I have to use this a lot.

The sound of eight hooves reaches his ears, comes from the heavenly light, two wolves howls fills his heart with fear, and he sees two ravens fly. Down from the sky a warlord rides, like fire his one eye glows, and just before the preacher dies he knows his god is false.

Well, that's just basic Picross strategy anyway. It should also apply to any (solid) row with more than half of the available blocks shaded.

I'm waiting for my version to get delivered, but I can't wait. I love the original Picross DS, and have been revisiting it in anticipation for this to arrive. <3

I'm playing the original, and it definitely has more aesthetic appeal. Developed by Jupiter, rather than HAL, it has nicer music and more visually interesting shapes to make. But man do I have to guess a lot.

Also for anyone that doesn't know, you can solve free 2D picross puzzles on griddlers.net

See if these sorts of puzzles are something you'd be interested in

Griddlers.net is awesome. It has thousands of puzzles, and it has colored puzzles, and three-axis type called Triddlers, which are crazy.

How the hell do I see the puzzles? Every one I've clicked on so far seems to load everything but the puzzle itself.

edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. I wish the DS game had bigger puzzles like this, because this interface blows compared to the DS one.

Do you have Java installed? The puzzles require Java to view and solve.

I like to play puzzle games a lot. I am not too much great to play it. Because they are more methodical and slow-paced than action heavy games. This is an intuitive portable puzzle game. It also challenging head-scratchers.

I am visiting my parents' place at the moment, and last night I walked past my mom sitting at the computer playing Picross on some online site. She failed a puzzle, and told her to let me have a go at it since I was pretty good.

I then looked closer and saw that the reason she failed was because she didn't cross out free squares. Turns out she didn't know you could do that and had worked her way through hundreds of puzzles (including 25x25) just by guessing and memory. And of course when I attempted to solve it, I took about twice as long as her average length.

I was like WHAT THE CHRIST WOMAN

This is the perfect Sunday morning kind of game; I sit with a cup of coffee on the couch as my wife reads the paper, and I chunk away at a few puzzles. So relaxing and yet mentally stimulating at the same time. :) The puzzles are still easy as I'm still going through the Beginner/tutorial section, but I find it enjoyable nonetheless.

The whole "chipping away" element gives the game a very different feel; 2-D Picross felt exactly like doing a crossword or sudoku, but this feels like its own fun exercise. At $20 this is wonderful; just wholesome, good-natured, math- and puzzle-nerd happiness.

I can finally pick this up now that I finished all the picross DS downloadable puzzles. Between those and the ones on the cartridge, I think that game had about 1000. Good buy.

If there is any justice in this world, there is a sequel or three somewhere in hiding

    I demand more picross!

Yeah they can't have run out of puzzles yet. By my calculations, there are ~10^30 configurations just for the 10x10 grid. Of course, not all of them will be solvable. Not sure how to subtract those out.

Not sure if you're talking 3D or regular. Regular had something like 800 downloadable puzzles. Very nice game extender.

I know 3D has downloads as well, not sure how many.

Ah, I meant 3D, I no longer have regular picross, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as its multidimensional counterpart.

Unless you lived in Europe! The fuckers released 2 packs for vanilla Picross DS and then seemed to forget it entirely.

Thankfully they picked up the ball with Picross 3D and the downloads just keep coming.

I've got an account. Unfortunately the DS is a far superior platform for picross puzzles, I'm spoiled.

I just finally beat every puzzle in Picross 3D with a perfect. I did cheat on a couple by abusing the fact that quicksave doesn't erase when you use it though.

I had to stop and switch from Picross 3D to Rune Factory 2. I have been playing it and it just has a direct line to the addictive portion of my brain. Staying up wayyyy too late to solve 'one more puzzle'.
