Correction: Sinn Fein retains West Tyrone quite comfortably. No real upset.

Sinn Fein seat doesn't help if the buggers won't take it: Tories need fewer seats, the better they do.

Nick is quite right - the sheer number of people voting has probably been higher in the past.

I wonder if the large number of boundary changes this election has had an effect. Lots of rookie presiding officers perhaps?

Underestimating the amount of voters? Maybe they thought there would be record lows due to voter apathy?

You should have enough papers for every registered voter regardless and if people are in a queue at 10 they should be allowed in THEN doors locked.

    Margaret Hodge is lovely.

Like a polar opposit of Griffin.

[EDIT] Also, on the BBC website.

BBC reporter Danny Carpenter in York says hundreds of postal ballots have gone missing in the city. The problems are being blamed on a printing error and a temporary closure at the local postal sorting office. In York Outer, the Lib Dems had a notional majority of just 203, meaning the missing votes could have a significant impact and pave the way for a losing party to challenge tonight's result in the courts.

I never realised UK election counting was done in a perfect timeframe for us Australians to obsess over it during the workday. Your tallying process is way too slow though, the lack of partial updates is really painful.
