Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

it's awesome except the crank clicks once per revolution and i suspect it may just need to be tightened but i don't have the wrench for it, i'll just give it to a shop so they can do a whole tuneup, the chain hasn't been oiled since last summer anyway.
you would be surprised.
He doesn't fucking move if you don't kick him super hard.
it's honestly easier to walk around myself rather than try to get him going.

I have never been rowing, but white-water rafting on the Chatooga was tits. The water was really low, so we didn't get the full experience, but there were some pretty sweet rapids and drops.
Sweet bike, zip. Steel frame though, I imagine it's going to weight a ton, but probably ride well.
My buddy's got a beat up old road Schwinn that we're thinking of renovating. Stripping the frame bare, painting it and installing all new hardware. Maybe an enclosed hub. One thing I'm not too sure about is the brakes. It has caliper brakes right now ("has" being used loosely here, they barely work), I'm not sure if they have good replacements for those or if it's even possible to drill the frame to accomodate v-brakes.

Yea, the weight it a little bit of a worry, but not too much of one. I mean, anything that I'm looking at is going to have a little bit of heft. I was looking to spend under a grand and found that for under 500. The guy at the shop is willing to sell me the Redline for the same price, it's a steel frame as well.
To go lighter would either put me on more of a road bike than I'm looking for, onto a single gear or into a different price category.
Though, I did right that bikes little brother, the U-District and it didn't suck.
Bailed and scraped my leg, whooooops time to learn how to slow down. This deck seems to have so much rebound that carving almost feels like it's speeding you up.
It's sooooo fun though. Can't wait to go out later and commandeer some nice flatish bike-paths. Damn this thing rides so high, pumping is like using a stairmaster.

There are definitely some good ALU bikes out there for around $500.
Maybe look into buying a used one too (from a shop, obviously, so it's fixed up and tuned). Mine is a 2001 model and sold for over $600 new, I got it last summer from a good shop for just under $300. It's practically new.
I've got a Schwinn road bike that requires me to stomp my heel on the ground in order to brake
also got a longboard that I'm afraid to use because I spray painted a pretty design on the bottom that I don't want to ruin
Dude, ride that shit! or get a new deck? I was surprised how inexpensive they are, pretty much the main reason I bought one instead of replacing my rollerblades
COME, my tan-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready,
Have you your pistols? Have you your sharp-edged axes?
Pioneers! O pioneers!
I do need to get some straps for my pedals though.
Actually, I need to get new pedals. The ones on there now are MTB units and have spiked edges that invariably end up stabbing my calves when I am walking the bike.
I literally have two scars on my legs from these things already.

Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
My neighborhood is full of really steep hills. Bikes and other things like that are not practical.
I used to ride a bike fairly often but it's been years since I lived in a place that was really conducive to bike travel

meanwhile i have a 2001 Cannondale H400

This neo-feudalism would be more tolerable if our betters had fancy titles.

Drum Brakes
Internal 5 speed hub
Slightly knobbly tires but still very much road worthy
It'll be my new commuter ride.
Unless I don't like it and then I'll end up with the Redline 9.
