My friend's mother is now on hospice in home care, all treatment for her cancer has stopped because it's jumping from her bones into her organs.

Her family doctor told her that if she wants to pass quickly and relatively painlessly, just refuse treatment next time the cancer displaces enough bone to cause hypercalcaemia.

Stale, have you ever woken up early because you didn't have enough to eat before bedtime?

Apparently the first time this happened I was so delirious it took my mom several minutes to get a coherent sentence out of me, at which point I requested cookies.

I don't want to live in Canada

so I guess I'll pay for things that I have to pay for!

maybe if I move to Canada and fuss a lot it'll change, but that sounds like a hassle

it must be frustrating for you to have moved to Canada for a different life but are still so obsessed with America and it's policies that you can't let it go

but I guess it's not an effective argument for you if you can't say "good thing I live in Canada everything rules"

things are fucked up but you can also talk about it in a way that doesn't make everyone wish you didn't post in threads

    just sayiiiiin

I'm trying to figure out what terrible condition Stale hasn't had

    AIDS?

    been exposed! Never contracted it.

I worked at a porn shop / adult arcade when I was 18-19. Junkies used to hang out in the back and suck off old dudes for money. One night one comes stumbling in, heads back to the booths, and about 2 hours later a regular comes up front and tells me there is something wrong.

This usually means a twink catfight, or a good ol boy didn't like his blowjob and is beating the shit out of a junkie.

No, this time it meant a junkie had thrown up blood and vomit and beer all over the booth, the doors, the hallway, 3 other guys, and himself. In the process of trying to control the situation I get some blood/vomit on my hands and jeans.

At this point the junkie tells me that I should call the ambulance, because he has aids.

I left him there on the floor, told everyone to leave, locked the doors, called the janitor and told him to come in early, and then called the ambulance for HIV-junkie.

    Quit that week.

    Damn.

The closest I've ever come to aids is my mother pricking herself after drawing blood from and aids patient about two years before I was born.

Stale, which pump are you using?

My partner is prepping himself right now to get one, he wants this one,

    http://www.animas.com/support/onetouch-ping-insulin-pump

but I think it is too much for him, (he cant figure out how to turn on a laptop, much less figure out how to set a digital watch)

I was thinking about this one for him.

    http://www.minimed.com/products/

It looks a bit easier for him to figure out and whatnot..

    What do you think?

Stale, that story reminds me of this:

    http://www.deepveininsomnia.com/SBcopscintro.php

    Ohh Man

I read these years ago and completely forgotten about them. The *LUBE WARNING* in particular.

Our store wasn't computerized at all, it was all done through a ledger and logbook, manual counts coming on and going off. So everytime someone wanted to rent, we had to pull out the logbook, check their account, run their card for sometimes hundreds of dollars of authorizations, and then charge the rental.

See, we had a real problem with people just not bringing back the tapes, and frankly, that shit was expensive back then. 80-120 a title wasn't uncommon at all. So we'd take their credit card, do a manual pre-authorization of the full price of the title, then do a charge of however many dollars, usually 5 bucks for 3 nights if I recall.

You could run an auth once, and the customer would keep using it for a month sometimes. I always found it amazing that my regulars would have entire platinum cards, back when having a platinum card meant something, that was entirely filled with nothing but pre-auth holds.

    Anyway

In the logbook we kept records and had alerts highlighted if they had a tendency for being creepy, or tried weird shit, or didn't rewind, or left cum/lube on tapes or money.

I use the Minimed Paradigm series 7, which I believe is no longer offered, but they have an updated version.

This thing has been all over and back again, dropped, crushed, drowned, and it still runs strong.

One word of caution about the real-time units. While awesome, most insurance companies don't cover the transmitters. They view them as luxuries, and not necessary for proper management.

which is bullshit. but what can you do? The transmitters will run you around 300 a month.
