Also, if anyone is still on the fence, I would like to point these articles out to show that these guys know what they're doing when it comes to game design:

Why Am I So Hard? (an article about difficulty in games)

Extra Credit (an article about risk/reward in games)

What a perfect time not to have a job! I was seriously debating staying up all night for this, especially after hearing about the 800 point deal, but I don't know if my exhausted mind would be sharp enough for this sort of abuse.

Screw it, tonight I'll gorge myself on N+ and Trials HD until I rage-collapse. Then maybe I will be prepared for what is to come when I awaken tomorrow.

So it's basically N+ with everything I didn't like about N+ fixed. And it costs the same as the points refund we're getting in November.

I know what I'm getting come refund time!

Actually, you have to get it before November to get it for the same amount as the point refund.

Wait, is it November 21 or October 21 that the discount ends? Major Nelson said November but he's made typos in the past.

The official website says it goes up to 1200 MS points in November. I'm assuming that means November 1st, because why would they run a sale for more than 11 days?

Holy shit, I didn't even know this part:
On top of all that, there are currently 20 free XBLA-exclusive DLC stages, grouped under the name "The Butcher Boy." These stages are part of a larger, free DLC initiative called "Teh Internets." Team Meat has pledged to continue to give us new levels through Teh Internets for as long as they possibly can.

This is going from super-hype territory to GOTY contender for me.

I can't wait for this game. Even if I don't like it, I'll be glad to know I helped out some dudes who had no income for 18 months while working on this game. That is dedication.

I've got a nice game plan guys, what do you think?

Step 1: Buy this game and play it for half an hour.
Step 2: Keel over and feel the back of my head literally tear open due to my brain trying to escape its own madness.
Step 3: Crumple into a heap.
    Step 4: Repeat Step 2 & 3.

    Well, this totally happened.

I love this fucking game though.

I'm typing this now because I only just finished world 1 and I know I'm going to fucking hate this game once it gets really hard in the later levels.

Tried the demo for 45 minutes. Spent 30 of them attempting the vertical conveyerbelt one with all the salt.
Extreme satisfaction after I FINALLY did it right. That replay was a hoot.

Bought it right after that. Completed the first world. Found dark wold. Now it says i dont have a storage device so I quit before I get to far in. Ill do it again with a grin this evening. Lovin' this.

I'd say the second chapters dark world levels are nearly as hard as the last chapter's light world levels.

The last chapters dark world levels are fucking insane, but beating the last on is probably one of my favourite moments of gaming ever.

Yeah, that one was hard. I spent a lot of time on the the level with the syringes. Most of them were pretty tough, and I imagine they only get harder. I beat all the demo levels, and it is a fun game. I'll probably buy it later. Something I don't understand though, why does salt hurt him?

I assume because salt is used for drying meat out to preserve it so it technically hurts him.

The demo picked a few levels from different worlds. It toughens up at the end with a few levels from the harder worlds. The game itself has a nice difficulty curve on your first playthrough.

Then it throws down the dark levels. Which are HARD.

Sodium. So tasty, so low fat, yet so deadly.

The sound of eight hooves reaches his ears, comes from the heavenly light, two wolves howls fills his heart with fear, and he sees two ravens fly. Down from the sky a warlord rides, like fire his one eye glows, and just before the preacher dies he knows his god is false.

Thanks. The demo levels seem quite hard enough for me. If those kinds of levels are sort of average for the game it would be a pretty long game for me.

It's not really meant to be short. 100 light world levels. 100 dark world levels. 100ish levels in warp zones, kill screens, and stuff. Plus, on the Xbox, continuing release of new levels, 20 of which are supposedly already available. All in a difficulty that seems to be most commonly referred to as 'motherfucker.'

It was apparent from the instant I first read about this game that they wanted my dollars, and I am pleased to supply them. Now I just have to fulfill about a hundred obligations before I can get home to try it.

I like it a lot so far. Feels much tighter designed than something like N+, though those later dark world levels are complete nonsense.

Also, I got the achievement for beating a world without dying. Turns out you don't need to beat the boss as well, so it's really not very hard.

Managed to get to #2 on the leaderboards for Synj in World 2, though I'm sure that won't last long. Man, people work fast on those things.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.

I've spent the last week at or near the top of most of the leaderboards. I think I'm number 3 overall still.

Edit: I'm avoiding checking to see how much I am getting my ass kicked now.
