Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Mafiosos have come to a small village in the hills of Sicily. Every night these violent outlaws kill for sport. The villagers have resolved to resist.
Game Mechanics - There are three mobsters and one seer.
Every night the mob can kill two players.
Every night the seer can investigate one player to determine their true identities.
The village will vote to kill one player they think is a mobster every night. Each player can vote for who they wish to see put to death by posting:
I !Vote for _______.
Voting must be done in exactly this manner.
Each game day ends at 9:00 pm EST. For the mob to win the game they must kill enough players that the number of remaining players and the number of remaining mobsters is equal. For the village to win the game they must kill every member of the mob.
PMs assigning roles will be sent out shortly.

Every player will receive the villager PM which is as follows:
Man, this one is a lot harder for the villagers to win. A fuckton harder in fact.
If I'm calculating right, if we stake more than 3 villagers, we lose.
:?
Let's see. 3 deaths a turn. 21 villagers means 7 turns. 4 mobsters. Yep, sounds about right. I hope I do come up as a mobster just so you guys can stake me and give yourself at least the best chance possible. :?

Is it to hard? I haven't sent out the PMs for this one yet so there is time to cut the number of mobsters to three.
What say you?
Given that the seer is the only special, the monsters also have an easier time building a fake network. I think you should cut it to three.
On the other hand, we always seem to overestimate the monsters' chances in these games.

I'm writing a simple simulator to see how the game turns out, but I'm pretty sure at the moment it's weighted too much towards the mafiosos, so I vote for 3 of them.
In a small game like this, chance is more of a factor than in a larger game where the roles are multiply redundant. If the seer happens to get taken out early, we're screwed. The mob kills two players a turn, which gives them a good chance of nabbing the seer early and murdering us all. I think three mafioso is the maximum number feasible in a game this size. It'll probably be slightly in the mafia's favour, but two would be too few so it's the best option.
I guess we could go for more mafia members and only one kill per night, but that's straying away from the rules Shinto set down.
You know guys, when I was selected as a vampire in Richy's last game and the entire player list was divided into groups of three who all received the same PM - so that my situation was completely hopeless because it was so easy for the village to organize - I just grinned and stuck it out. I didn't blubber and cry.
Just suck it up. This was meant to be a short game. Five to seven nights. That is what you all signed up for. I'm not going to lose sleep for ten days because playing a hard game is too emotionally stressful or you think losing is the end of the world. Do your best, have fun.

Damn, I was really hoping for special this time. I'm about due.
You were a special in my last game. What was that, two months ago?
Yeah, a monster. It was the only time, though. After I was so kind to make everybody a special last game I was hoping for a little karmic reward.

Oh yes, I did screw you guys. But on balance I did a good thing.
It's not even that. I've played in all but two of these games and have always been a villager. Your game, where everybody is a special? I'm a villager who lacks the only upside of a villager. Yea-ha.
I am less then sympathetic to your plight.
(Though I did enjoy the game you ran.)
"When you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. When you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole."
Yea, it's not really your fault, I've just been getting frustrated with it. I like games and like learning all the ins and outs of them. To keep getting the same role, a role with pretty limited options, is just frustrating.
Anyways, somebody has to make up the great unspecial masses and I guess that's just my job. I'm going back to my own thread, where people don't post.

We need to get one mobster by night 4. We have to have 2 mobsters by night 5, game ends on night 6 since I'm assuming when mobsters = villagers the villagers lose.
Aroduc dropping out of the game gives us one less night to win, otherwise we would have to have 2 mobsters by night 6 and then we get one last night with 2 villagers and one mobster.
This is provided that mobsters will always get 2 kills even if one remains.
It's a simple game of chance, I don't mind rolling the dice once in a while instead of playing the game entirely in PM's.

Meh. Keep it.
So everyone put in their 2 cents and I'll decide when I get back.
Edit: I lied. I'm changing it to three mobsters.
Please. PLEASE. It's still pretty weighted in the monster's favor, but every little bit helps.
edit: realized im in the other one but question still hodls true, and will the multiple games start at the same time?

The seer can only have one vision per night.

That was quite gay.
I will say that.
Yeah. I hate people.
Not you guys. Just . . . people.
People suck.
